I have been working at Integra Telecom

    Pros

The internal IT management team is mostly sensible.
The end users rule.. 90% of them are smarter than the average bear.

    Cons

Tons of work (expect to be busy and love it)
poop-tacular budget (can't do the work you're asked to do because it's not on the list.)
Lots of home-grown stuff that isn't supported proactively

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We have to punt if you tell us we can't have the money you said we could have last quarter.
IT is infrastructure, to be sure, but it's also integral to keeping a business functioning.

Just because we're not a cost center doesn't mean that we don't contribute.

Every single thing we fix shortens hours for revenue centers.

I have been working at Integra Telecom full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The company lack good leadership therefore there are lots of holes in accountability if your the type of person that does not have a strong work ethic then you will do fine.

    Cons

The challenges are the company is not a leader in its industry therefore when it comes to competition they will loose 9 times out of 10. Keep in mind its hard to get up to bat because they have very little fiber in Phoenix and what fiber they do have its not where the enterprise customers want service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respectfully, do right by your employees and keep your word. Its great to have a company that has great potential but keep in mind when management makes bad decision it effects everyone involved not only the employees but it make the business community not trust the leadership of the company.

    Pros

Aggressive base salary, health benefits, and bonus. They provide extensive training and team development activities.

    Cons

95% of the sales team does not make it over a year in sales performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on hiring less sales representative and securing the sales representative you have invested in.

Integra is an excellent company with executives who cannot make up their minds.

I worked at Integra Telecom full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good salary and an aggressive commission structure. Excellent product portfolio and quality services. A good company with a lot of potential.

    Cons

Always in flux. In 9 months the office I was located in started with over 40 reps and when I got laid off they dropped down to 10 sales reps. Nearly all of the reps laid off had been hired within the past year and a half. Saw multiple executives fired and multiple corporate initiatives start and fail in a time frame of less than one year being employed there. They hired two new sales teams in the SLC office just to lay them and one other team all off about a year later.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create some stability so that your sales reps have a foothold to run from and they will make you successful.

    Pros

They seemed to be committed to using newer technologies, which meant I learned a lot of usable skills while I was there.
They had a very flexible work from home policy.

    Cons

It is a much older crowd. I felt very out of touch with my co-workers. With a lot of people working from home, I could go days without talking to anyone in the office.

I have been working at Integra Telecom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great pay for top performers.
    Very flexible schedule after morning.
Decent products if available in the area you were serving.

    Cons

Daily morning meeting with no purpose for tenured people.
No upward mobility. Limited in the area I was located.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it simple and move forward. Too much change in how things need to be done.

I have been working at Integra Telecom full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people I work with are excellent couldn't ask for a better group. Promotions are few and far between. Benefits are fairly typical for this industry and for a small company.

    Cons

Most of the management personal leave a lot to be desired, have seen too many people leave the company due to their direct management. Few promotions, very little training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to learn to listen to what an employee has to say and not file it away in the trash. Too many poor managers are retained and the good ones are forced out.

    Pros

not many - the worker bees are nice to work with.

    Cons

Incest is best. If you are not from Level 3 - Don't bother applying for any openings in Denver. Appears all the rejects from Level 3 are being hired at Integra. This includes sales, product, operations. Good old boys network is alive and well. Changing strategies so they can be bought by Level 3 in a few years. Breaking up the company to sell off.
