I worked at Integral Systems full-time

    Pros

I found my immediate bosses were very helpful and very interested in my career development.
Most teams consist of very experienced people who have deep knowledge of the satellite industry, but who are not so set in their ways that they can't keep learning new skills and improving their quality of work. I genuinely enjoyed working with the vast majority of my co-workers here.
    Interesting projects.
Most people only rarely need to work weekends.

    Cons

Massive layoffs occurred within days of upper management telling us there wouldn't be layoffs. They have laid off a lot more people since then. For that reason, I can't really recommend this company to others right now.
No bench for people at the end of a project.
No real flextime when I was working there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try harder to have a good bench program so that you don't lose good employees.
Allow more flexible work schedules, and stop seeing employees who want them as lazy.

I worked at Integral Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers and clients. Virtual office. Good benefits and PTO policy. Flexible hours. Management cultivates a team atmosphere. As a small company, you get to be involved in a lot of different areas. Good learning experience.

    Cons

Lack of corporate direction and stability. Management goes charging off in one direction, then, when that doesn't work out, they go charging off in another. Buy other companies in the hope that they can run it better than the previous management. Sudden layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come up with a solid business plan and share it with employees.

I have been working at Integral Systems

    Pros

    Good compensation
    Decent benefits
    Flexible schedule
    Great employees

    Cons

Upper management could exert more leadership
    Old culture and identity gone
    Departments isolated
Little interaction between executives and staff
Tech jobs in Maryland are migrating to other sites
Upward growth limited - new hire management comes from outside company and too many VPs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would love to see executives make the company more competitive by reducing administrative/executive top-heavy overhead.

I have been working at Integral Systems

    Pros

    Good Pay and Benefits.
    Laid Back Working Environment.
    Flexible Work Schedule.
    No Shift Work, Weekends Off.
    Small Company with Growth Potential.

    Cons

High Attrition of the Upper-Level Management.
Lack of Direction from Lower-Level Management.
Lack of Communication from Management both Upper-Level & Lower-Level.
Since it is a small company there is little opportunity for professional growth.
    Recent Downsizing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If the goal is to earn new business, focus on the company's core competencies. The management seems to target new business ventures that are not conducive to the company's core competencies. This is a small company that builds its management structure as if it were a large company. Reorganize the company's management structure.

    Pros

Salary equal to experience and contribution. Great benefits and HR department.

    Cons

Executive management needs stronger leadership. Too much infighting and overlap between the various groups and subsidiaries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stronger direction and leadership from the top. Consolidate overlapping functions and geographic areas. Ripe for an acquisition.
