    Pros

They have a good health benefits and holiday schedule .

    Cons

There is very limited growth opportunity. They are too process heavy weighing down getting anything done efficiently. Some of the management staff are not qualified. Some of the company policies are outdated preventing IMS from progressing.

  2. High employee turnover - a result of poor leadership and management of employees.

    Pros

IMS offers generous time-off and holidays throughout the year. Overall, it's a stable company with many fortune 500 companies as clients. They also offer good insurance and match 401K.

    Cons

Salary not competitive compared to industry average Unequal standard for promotion High Employee turnover Lacking positive culture and morale

    Advice to Management

First and foremost, listen to your employees. They make the company run and can offer the greatest points for improvement on many facets of the business.

    Pros

Great health benefits & profit-sharing. Consistently give bonuses. Valued employees. Since staffing is slow they are eager to make it work with current employees. If you are organized & focus on a life-work balance, they will support you.

    Cons

No room for advancement since a small staff. Best suited for those happy with a stagnant job role.

    Advice to Management

Continue letting employees have off-site breathers since being on-site with a demanding client can get frustrating

    Pros

They provide a decent range of benefits, profit sharing and 401K options. The number of holidays and PTO is generous.

    Cons

Mangers are promoted and not provided training on how to manage subordinates. Compensation is not proportionate to actual work load or responsibilities. Advancement is only possibly by constantly changing accounts, and thorough training is unlikely.

    Advice to Management

Update the office space, and provide better incentives for employees to join in office culture.Require that executives take an active interest in the lower level employees.

  6. Excellent medical coverage (low premiums) and generous PTO/holidays. Lack of communication and poor salaries.

    Pros

Excellent benefits package. Generous PTO (start with 18 days). Receive an extra day off around most holidays for a 4 day weekend. Summer Fridays (half day every other Friday, with extra 4 hours made up during the week). Interesting line of work with impressive client list. Great group of employees.

    Cons

Lack of communications between senior management and cross-functional teams. Low salaries and poor raises (although generous bonus %). Job can seem chaotic and unorganized due to feeling "in the dark" and the vast array of unique client obligations and processes.

    Advice to Management

Engage employees with the company to keep them interested and motivated (communication!). Tighten and streamline processes. Invest in technology. IMS has the potential of being a fantastic place to work.

    Pros

This company is competitive in their pay structure and has a great PTO plan. They often have four-day holidays as well, which is great!

    Cons

The organizational structure is flat, so promotions are rare. There is a lot of political back-stabbing going on among many employees, in an effort to schmooze the upper management. It's apparent that there are 'favorites' and some of the favorites are the office bullies. When I worked there, several people were looking for other jobs, because they were so miserable. Steer clear of this company if you don't like office politics.

    Advice to Management

Upper management: Develop and exercise your leadership skills, instead of only relying on middle management to do this. Find a way to eliminate the toxic work environment.

    Pros

    Benefits, bonuses, people, learning opportunities

    Cons

Senior management team is not aware of what is happening within departments. Senior management team doesn't value opinions of customer service representatives or distribution associates. People are not promoted because they are qualified for positions.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Promote 'qualified' employees. Keep employee information/confidences confidential.

    Pros

The benefits are really the only pro for working here. The yearly bonus is nice (based off of your review), and there's plenty of PTO time to use.

    Cons

When hired I was told they "promote from within." In the 2 years I have been there, I have seen numerous positions filled by outside people, while employees are passed over. The management is kind of shady, and transparency is not their friend.

    Advice to Management

If you want to keep valued, hard working employees, then you should do something about promoting them/compensating them fairly. Several times new people in the same position would start with a higher salary than those that had been there longer and had degrees/experience.

  11. IMS is a poorly managed company, particularly in their Oak Brook office.

    Pros

-Decent holiday schedule. -Decent paid time off allowed. -You will learn what NOT to do when it comes to managing a department professionally.

    Cons

-Blatant disregard of company handbook by management; family is not allowed to report to other family members, yet this happens at IMS. -Customer Service manager is immature and uneducated. -Major disconnect between management and employees. -The customer service manager is more concerned with telling people what to do than actually producing high quality work. -IMS uses outdated computer software. -President of the Oak Brook office is clueless when it comes day-to-day processes.

    Advice to Management

Integrated Merchandising Systems should look to become more professional and knowledgeable internally. Their best move would be to relieve the customer service manager of all their duties and authority. The customer service manager should undergo management training and obtain a college degree before being given the opportunity to manage employees. If the Human Resources department was not so concerned trying to create an image of being feared, they might realize what a poor job management is doing in some areas of the company.
