Dynamic sort-of start-up that may be swimming its wheels

    Programmer (Former Employee) Princeton, NJ

ProsFun, where-the-action-is small company that is always trying something new.
On the cutting edge of managing "big data" to track distribution/sales of pharmaceuticals.
Benefits (lunches, parties) and work-style is generous.

ConsGrowth has stalled and investors/management are concerned . . . jettisoning projects and people when they lose interest . . . regularly. Turnover of staff is >30%/year.

Advice to Senior ManagementSlow the optimistic bullcrap and be honest about finances and investor discussions.

Shooting themselves in the foot due to complete lack of internal investment, especially in key employees

Data Analyst (Current Employee) Princeton, NJ

Pros1. Excellent work-life balance with ability to work from home and flexible hours
    2. Good people to work with who have excellent upside career potential

    Cons1. Terrible pay
    2. Very little communication
    3. Internal advancement/promotion is very difficult
    4. Complete lack of internal investment (technology and people)
    5. Controlled by their customer demands (i.e., giving too much away for free and customizing everything)
    6. Upper management, although they have an open-door policy, does not truly listen to employee ideas
    7. Little loyalty to long-time employees

Advice to Senior Management1. Communicate a clear vision and stick to it; too much fluff with no execution
    2. Don't give in to every customer demand and stop catering/customizing everything. A product should be the same product across every customer. We have no leverage over our clients, but instead it's the complete opposite
    3. Invest internally! Fix the tools and pay the right people more

Great company to work for who is building a Cloud based Commerce Platform

    Director (Current Employee) Princeton, NJ

ProsExcellent working environment, employees are empowered to make decisions and execute them. Everyone is encouraged to challenge the status quo and think outside the box. Employees have access to CEO and senior managements and share ideas and get them implemented in the business process.

    ConsLack of cross functional training.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in employees, educate them on various management aspects and become a launching platform to create entrepreneur(s).

A Dismal Disaster waiting to happen

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Princeton, NJ

Pros+ Eagerness of engineers, and support engineers to do better.
+ Research & Developmental Ideas from a select few engineers.
    + Encouraging Direct Managers

    Cons-poor work environment
    -lack of team communications
    -misuse of technology
-dis allocation of funding for un necessary expenditures
-Too many meetings spanning entire days
-Too much planning, with little time to work
-Too many people have mediating jobs instead of actual jobs.
-You don't get awarded unless senior management knows of your existence. Which is an issue because senior management only listens to a select few, and knows little about what is actually going on in the company, let alone know about the technology that is being developed.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend more on your engineering team, if you don't have a product what are you going to sell?

Rising star in technology-leveraged information services

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Princeton, NJ

ProsIntegriChain supports the pharmaceutical industry with commercial insight into trade channels. It's nice to have the wind in your sails.

ConsThe pharmaceutical industry is resistant to change and under margin pressure. IntegriChain is a high-growth start-up company with limited resources.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to customers but don't stray from your strategy. Take care of your human assets. Talent wins in the end.

Good environment and tons of talent.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood mix of personalities and lots of technical talent.
Seems like management does want their staff to grow with them.
Lots of functions to let their staff unwind.

ConsManagement always seemed unsure of the direction to take the company in.
The company is smaller in scale so decisions were made re-actively instead of proactively.
Infrastructure was still small company minded but slowly getting better.

Advice to Senior ManagementAssign the right work to the right talent. It seemed like some of the wrong people were working on the wrong projects when they should have been doing something else.
