Pros
The work is extremely interesting. People are drivng and are hard workers. Being on the leading edge of technology is exciting.
Cons
Plenty of work. Always more than I can get done.
Pros
Intel will go out of their way to make working there a Great Place to Work (GPTW). Many benefits not found in most companies, ie: free fruit, drinks, massage chairs, massages! Many cash rewards weekly/monthly/quarterly.
Cons
Often good ideas go un-noticed until the "right" person mentions it. Many decisions become knee-jerk rather than pro-active. Job postings are sent out with specific people in mind.
Advice to Senior Management
In the quest to be a GPTW, it becomes an additional burden to those who must support the extra work so as others may enjoy a skewed shift or working a temp assignment in another divison. This benefit to some becomes a burden to others in the group.
Pros
Stock options, bonuses twice a year, pretty descent 401K/SERP benefits. A lot of job growth if you put in the effort. The company encourages taking college classes to keep up with technology and lastly a great place to work!
Cons
To many managers that can't agree on the basic things! Most days you are in 5-6 meetings a day and it's hard to get anything done.
Advice to Senior Management
Please listen to your employees!
Pros
Good work life balance, good training for new employees, great opportunity for learning across the divisions and global work experience.
Cons
Low growth rate and slow decision process
Pros
If you are in the right pockets this is a great company. The compensation is good and you can move around within the company.
Cons
However if you are in one of the more stressful groups then life can be hell. Even if you move around your salary will most likely be the same.
Advice to Senior Management
Make it a bottom heavy company and not top heavy. Groom the next generation of employees and make sure that you value your employees as much as you value external new hires.
Pros
Although the pay is great, Intel asks a lot from it's employees. I enjoy, personally, many of my co workers. I really like living in Portland - there isn't many finer cities in the USA. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my current role and management structure.
Cons
Intel seems to change organizationally a lot. Middle management seems to have political infighting that is completely unnecessary. I prefer a place where people work together better and where the communication between employees are better. Intel also tends to be a bit scattered and not very disciplined when it comes to getting work done. Things are done fast in my area, but not very well thought out.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work for supporting the employees at all levels. There seems to be a lot of politics in middle management. I would spank the middle managers who seem to be playing politics and not focusing on delighting the customers.
Pros
we can gain more knowledge from the state of the art lab and technology used and one of a kind experience
Cons
no cons in particular to mention about the intel corporation, except late recognition of salary hike or bonuses to be issued
Advice to Senior Management
give better work place environment and more
Pros
You can learn as much as you want and are surrounded by some exceptional individuals. You can branch out and cross disciplines, it is all up to you. If you have the right data that backs up your position, high probability of success.
Cons
As with a big corporation, it seems that there are too many layers before a decision gets done. Sometimes frustrating to always need "alignment" with others.
Advice to Senior Management
Assign objectives, not tasks.
Pros
Exciting Cutting Edge Research, Free hand
Cons
Sometimes slow decisions making, multiple projects with same goals
Pros
At Intel I work with many competent and some very brilliant people. I'm allowed a very flexible work environment. The problems are really interesting, and working for the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer is pretty cool.
Cons
Intel is a very "Not Invented Here" company. It is so large and siloed that there can be a lot of duplicated effort. Trying to figure out how to do software that's really relevant to the main business of the company can be difficult.
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out what you really want to do with software and make sure everybody knows it.
