    Good company to work for.

Graphics Software Engineer (Current Employee) Hillsboro, OR

ProsLots of interesting work to do, with plenty of room for professional growth. Nice people to work with. Flexible work hours.

ConsDon't expect to climb the ladder fast...basically wait your turn. The yearly review process is time consuming and needs to be re-evaluated. Then again, I don't know many people at other employers that are happy with their yearly review process either :) Way too many meetings.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe work culture at Intel is like that of a large company, and needs to become more nimble. Reduce the amount of process to a minimum so that employees have freedom to work faster and have time to innovate.

Great place to learn, if you can tolerate the micromanagement

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Chandler, AZ

ProsCutting edge technology and so much to learn - this can be a very good stepping stone to a very successful career. Opportunties are plenty, but one has to be self driven. Don't expect management to actively get involved in career development (although that is changing as well).

ConsEveryone wants to solve problems. Even managers are evaulated on their particular contribution 0 it is not enough to say that you enabled your team to achieve great things. Micromanagement is rampant and decision making structure is not good.

Advice to Senior ManagementExecutive level managers are doing a great job of steering the company - taking risks and bold moves to find new growth areas. Middle level managers are lousy (not all) and there is lot of dead wood that needs to get cleaned. Messages and vision from top does not trickle down well.

    Great place to work

Component Design Engineer (Current Employee) Santa Clara, CA

    Pros- Great place to work
    - Cutting edge technology
    - Cool projects
    - Good compensation and vacation
    - Profit Sharing
    - Good Bonus plan

    Cons- Aggressive schedules
    - Management often gets into a lot of organization politics which ends up putting pressure on schedule which eventually causes a lot of stress within the project

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus more on fostering innvoation, planning, scoping. Focus on rewarding employees uniformly rather than being prejudiced on certain performers

    PTD Tech

Manufacturing Tech (Current Employee) Hillsboro, OR

ProsGood Pay; Time Off ; Good Benefits; Good People

ConsBad Hours; Unknown Promotion criteria; Too rigid in its practices (But you cant argue with their results)

Advice to Senior ManagementMake the promotion criteria known and upheld by all. It seems that there are favorites and they get the promotions.

    engineering perspective

Validation Engineer (Current Employee) Santa Clara, CA

    Pros- Profit sharing and bonuses
     - Many ways to advance career (large company, many groups)
    - Large global presence => job security

Cons- culture encouraged by corporate isn't always followed by middle management
    - village knowledge mentality increases bureaucracy and inhibits efficiency
    - no value for MBAs typically

Advice to Senior Management- Keep trimming middle management; theyre like roaches they just wont die and keep hiring each other back like cronies.
    - keep the senior management in place

    Intel Contract Employee

ICE Operator (Former Employee) Hillsboro, OR

ProsThe people were most excellent to work with. This company varies greatly group to group. I was in a group with a great bunch of people.

ConsBad apples stick around for a very long time. Once a persons are in the company will try and keep then around in hopes of reforming bad employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease listen to your employees when they say there is a problem with direct management. Sometimes bad apples must be thrown away and you cant always 'teach an old dog new tricks'. So dont try.

    One view from within

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Santa Clara, CA

ProsIf you're technical, Intel is probably a great place to work for you. As a high-tech company we need technical folks for sure.

ConsIf you're not technical and are on the services side of the house, Intel is becoming less and less a great place to work. So much of those jobs have been outsourced or offshored, it's difficult to get basic services completed the right way the first time. No offense to those who do the work; they're just not trained to do more than the bare minimum.

Advice to Senior ManagementReview the company's relationship with Bain Co. Are they providing good direction or just direction? They may have helped cut heads and reduce costs, but at what price?

    Intel folsom

Compoenent Design Engineer (Former Employee) Folsom, CA

Prosgood company to work rigt out of college. Cutting edge CAD tools and advande design challanges. Fairly good learning curve for the first few years.

ConsLot os politics and favorable treatment for handfull few. After 5+ years in the company the advancement possibilities are limited. More like state/government job, show 9-5 for a pay check.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen the workers at grade3 through grade8 level and see why they leav ethe company. Lots of imcompetent people still holding manager positions otehrwise would be avialable to deserving candiadates.
