lot's of projects to work on and many brilliant minds open for collaboration. if you are motivated, you can make anything you put you mind to become a reality!

career advancement is very slow. the salary you start at is about what you will make in 5yrs with minor inflation adjustments (almost keeps up with inflation but not quite). after 5yrs i still earn a salary less than new RCGs (recent college grads). it can be depressing when management expects me to train them.
Advice to Senior Management
1) allow more time to innovate.
2) overhaul the focal review process. allow more folks to get EE (exceeds expectations) when it warrants, not just meet the quota system. give salary market adjustments where it is needed. the company is very profitable so be more generous to the little guy at the bottom doing all the work.

The small group I worked with was a great group of people, doing interesting work. As an intern, I was happy to see they help you with the learning curve, but still expect you to pick it up and work hard.

Lots of bureaucracy and politics. Half way through my internship, my group was disbanded and people were moved around with little satisfactory explanation.

The best reason I can think of to work at Intel is that if you are a technically proficient person, you can grow your skills because of the resources available to you. You are exposed to cutting edge technologies that you would not see in many other organizations. If you are lucky enough to find yourself in a good department where teamwork and co-operation are encouraged, then you can thrive.
Cons
Intel always pays below the market average. Benefits are good. However, the senior management's inability to stay ahead of the curve in the mobility market has led to a stagnation of the stock price which is a big part of the compensation package.
Employees are rated on a bell curve system called ranking and rating. This means someone is always left holding the hot potato. Instead of motivating employees to do better this has led to a back biting environment where the deceitful employees often are rewarded. Those employees who can do "do". Those who can't will lie. Unfortunately the management structure at Intel requires even 1st level supervisors to be in meetings and to crunch numbers most of the time and this creates a disconnect between the workers and those who should observing them closely. The solution is for the workers to submit a "weekly" report of their activities. This is where the deceit comes in. Under-achieving workers simply fluff their report or outright lie about their activities. They are often rewarded simply because they focus most of their efforts on producing weeklys that make them look good.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers at Intel are technical people. In other words they are geeks(this is not meant to be derogatory). Geeks have a weakness however. People skills. Management at Intel, overall, lacks people skills. This isn't just the inability to suss out brown nosers as noted above. It also means they tend to treat people like a machine or a number. The best managers I have had at Intel over my career there were those people who already possessed strong people skills before they became a manager. They made me want to work harder simply because I was happy under their management. What I mean by this is I felt safe to do my job, and I knew I wasn't going to get nasty impersonal treatment from them. Having several really awful managers at Intel made me value these people greatly, and the loyalty and dedication to my work was never better under them. Andy Grove's shark tank organizational culture sucks!!! It's the wrong way to do things, and belies an underlying pessimism about human nature. This is no way to motivate people to do their best.

Innovator in technology. Great place to work. Many perks.
Cons
Work comes home. Software could be more up to date. Some office floors are in need of renovation.
Advice to Senior Management
This is not always an issue, but do not micro manage.
