I worked at Intel Corporation as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Fun and supportive coworkers, lots to learn, experience working for such a massive corporate entity.

    Cons

This was partly because there were so many people working there, but the importance of your individual contributions felt pretty minimal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I can't say I have too much here, overall I didn't rub shoulders with upper management too much.

    * Very good work life balance (but this may depend on the team and its commitments)

    Cons

    * Very detail oriented -- necessary for manufacturing, but is a lot of book-keeping
    * Some teams have difficult work life balance owing to critical deadlines

I worked at Intel Corporation part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Intel hire leaders, you are expected to be a leader even if that wasn't you title.
-freedom to accomplish and to raising your tone and speak up new ideas and tgoughts.
    - management will let you try and fail and they will give you hands and support you along the way to make sure you are not actually failing.
    - owning the company atmosphere.
    - coworker support ideas and will help you out if you shared them and you still the owner.
    -

    Cons

The company scope is huge (cross platform, cross OS, cross devices, etc), things goes pretty fast and you need to keep up with market changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work, you have a responsibilities to make it better world.

Former Employee - Senior IT Engineer in Hillsboro, OR
Former Employee - Senior IT Engineer in Hillsboro, OR

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is excellent and the sabbatical leave (US) is unbeatable.
    Cool technology!
Opportunity to work on projects that have global impact.
Opportunity to work in a variety of locations around the globe.

    Cons

Training opportunities within IT are trending downward
IT is considered a cost of doing business and is always under extreme pressure to be reduced
Many, many reorganizations that make continuity and follow through difficult to impossible
Senior IT Management does not inspire or demonstrate real leadership
    Work/Life balance isn't

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want different results, quit reorganizing as a means "doing something different" - continuous reorgs ARE the Intel norm and they obscure the results (or lack thereof) of your organization.
Focus on your people and the skills to lead them - the people are the the only reason that Intel has been and may continue to be successful. Quit focusing on cost as your raison d'etre.
Focus on the market place - look at what your customer's want and find a way to deliver it as opposed to delivering what you believe you are best at and trying to sell your customers on it, i.e. take a Marketing Oriented approach to the business instead of a Production Oriented approach (Marketing 101).

Current Employee - Technical Program Manager in Hillsboro, OR

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great technical place to build a career. However, you need to plan your own career path and aggressively follow it to the T. No one at Intel will shepard you along or mentor you.

    Cons

Annual review system is a forced percentage process for every department in the US for full time salaried employees. No matter how great the group or team is, there will always be 5% at the top selected for promotions or great salary increases, and 5% at the bottom assigned an Improvement Needed status. Although promoted heavily, there really is no such thing as work-life balance at intel. Your work is your life... period.
