Advice to Senior Management
no
Pros
Nature of work, job requirements
Cons
Long and untimely working hours
Pros
Sabbaticals
Bonuses
Salary
Work with really smart people
Work/Life balance
Ethical company
Cons
Recognition is by luck. If you happen to be on a high profile project but do little work you are more likely to be recognized than if you do a ton of work on something not visible at the director level.
Focal process
Advice to Senior Management
Rethink focal so that in order for one person to get a promotion someone else has to get a CAP. I find most everyone I work with is doing a great job and some deserve promotions, but someone doesn't deserve a CAP just for them to get it.
Pros
Industry leading salary
Benefits package best in the sector
Great people to work with, including managers and co-workers
Advancement potential is unlimited
Cons
12 hour days
Work load is sometimes very high
Expectations are high no matter what the workload is at the time
Advice to Senior Management
Management does a fairly good job at letting employees know about upcoming events but sometimes there are rumors that do not get adressed. Much better now that Paul Otellini is CEO.
Pros
A well-run company with a proven track record.
Cons
Cramped cubes. Job focus can be narrow.
Pros
Amazingly detailed and efficient manufacturing ramp up process. Excellent experience for a beginner.
Cons
Poor work life balance, Not a great first level management company. Career growth opportunities not consistent, uniform across business functions.
Advice to Senior Management
Please try addressing cons
Pros
In my opinion Intel is flexible with my schedule. It is a reputable company that is looking to be pretty stable.
Cons
To big to be agile.
Pros
Get to work with the best engineering brains
Highly tolerant of various working styles. Very flat (non-hierarchical) workplace
Tremendous diversity (not just of the cultural kind, but of the problem solving kind)
Cons
It is a big company and has some characteristics of that. Sometimes there are too many stakeholders and managers with their own axes to grind & little fiefdoms and turfwars to wage. Not for the weak-willed
Like in many other places.. no pain, no gain. You have to clock some crazy hours to be successful.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall.. great place to work. Tremendous job of cultivating fresh minds.
Advice: Greater meanness needed to survive in the smartphone era. We need the street to love us & we have to challenge the business units to better performance
Pros
Lots of training opportunities at junior level
Cons
Promos get tough as you advance
Always felt like layoffs are around the corner
Pros
Global recognition, high reputation, ok pay
Cons
Slow career advance, long work hours for engineers
Advice to Senior Management
Career devoloment
