Pros
good work life balance
lots of internal opportunities to move around
Cons
has become too big and a commodity coimpany
Advice to Senior Management
stay the course
Pros
Avg about a 2% pay raise every year.
120 hrs, 80.5 hrs Holiday, 80 hrs PA vactaion every year!
New hires to intel get better pay than the sr. staff.
Cons
Pay does not keep up with the new hires. We have senior techs with over 16 years of service or more at intel that are making less the $21 hr. this is with an average 5.5% pay raise every year. New techs are hired in at a 56 and 57 paygrade in the $24-$28 hr range. well above the Sr. 56 and some 57 paygrade techs. So as a new person to intel expect beter pay tham the Sr. Staff.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to make sure pay is fair to all people. Just give the sr techs the same pay as the new hires, not asking for more just asking for equal. HR saying you have been doing great with 6% average pay raise per year might sound warm and fuzzy but if you bring in the new guy at $3 or $4 more an hr in pay...The 6% is just lip service. equal pay for eaqual work.
Pros
Intel is considered to be CSR (corporate social responsibility) oriented company. Seemingly it takes a good care of it's employees in terms of perks and professional development.
There are however a lot of complaints being heard about the quality of middle management... incompetent managers, etc.
Cons
Intel's Focal process is riddled with flaws. Case in point: the requirement to collect 360 feedback from your peers (~7+). Providing feedback on your manager a different matter as there is often no other method to obtain honest opinion on management's performance. But there is an obvious conflict of interest when the very same people who are in your ranking group are asked to provide 360 feedback. It is often very easy to put 2&2 together and pinpoint the source of negative comments. For instance, I remember going way beyond the call of duty helping someone who made some unfair comments.
