Pros
Big company. Structured grooming for entry level students.
Cons
Many layers between u & management. Need to take some time to make an impact.
Pros
great. would recommend to anyone
Cons
no cons. This place is great to work for
Pros
There are some merits to working for a big corporation such as Intel. The benefits are nice.
Cons
Terrible culture, terrible management, terrible offices and location, terrible mobility, and terrible salary.
Advice to Senior Management
Re-vamp the entire culture. Improve feedback system.
Pros
Good benefit, Stable jobs and always get compensated
Cons
Work load is crazy, more than 12 hrs a day.
Work hours is out of control, trying to manage 8 hrs or max 10 hrs a day but can't make it. always 12-24 hrs a day
Rate and Ranking Sucks!!!! you've work so hard and when compared to other employees that didn't do much, always get at the bottom of the list. Depends on the MANAGER, if he or she knows how to convince others, then, you will be at the top.
Advice to Senior Management
Change the R&R system.
Pros
- Good Salary and benefits package
- Work/Life balance is an Intel value and generally promoted In the office environment
- Smart co-workers and managers
- Results is what matters. This has made the company successful in the market.
Cons
Intel is really two separate companies, the manufacturing part (known as TMG), and the non-manufacturing part (engineering, corporate services, IT, Payroll, HR, etc…). The cultural difference between them is like night and day. The belief within TMG is they make the money and the rest of the company is just unecessary overhead. The culture in the non-mfg side is much more easy-going and workers are generally happier. Work/life balance in the office environment is a very important corporate value, wheras in TMG, it’s a source of irritation and just another diversion from all that matters – making chips.
Advice to Senior Management
There's more to life than making chips. The company needs to be more services-focused and not so dependent on product lines.
Pros
Lets you balance work and life nicely (might depend on the group and your manager though)
Flexible working hours
Exciting time to work for this company
Cons
Almost like a government company
Things proceed too slowly.
Highly bureaucratic
Some groups can be very demanding and not that rewarding
Advice to Senior Management
Look at what competition does right.
Please offer competitive salaries like other companies do.
Most employees are overworked and underpaid
Pros
Pay is above average, at least for contractors. Ability to work on leading technologies.
Cons
Getting set up to work in the Intel environment is very time consuming because of overly bureaucratic restrictions needing oodles of permissions to access even the most basic information needed to perform your work. Access to documents and tools particularly difficult for contractors, with minimal help from company employees, for very complex systems and tools filled with undefined Intel specific acronyms and jargon. Yet contractors are expected to perform useful work almost immediately despite the enormous information vacuum in which they are placed. Don't be surprised if you are summarily canned without warning because an impatient manager thinks you should be able to skip the learning curve that always applies to working with new technologies and systems.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't expect new employees or contractors to be superhuman clairvoyants.
Pros
Decent Pay compared to other companies
Cons
Long Hours most of the time
Advice to Senior Management
Create a better work life balance.
Pros
There are lots of perks. I'm told they didn't do these for a long time, but just started again recently. Drawings for tickets to local events. They rented out Dave and Busters for a couple days and provided free food, games, etc. Benefits are pretty good. The company itself is really putting effort into making employees happy at work.
Cons
However, the quality of your job really depends on the group you are in, your manager, and the work you are doing. The company encourages movement and job changes every 2 years, but managers are another story. My manager, thankfully, is very focused on career development and opportunities for me, but I've heard of others who have no interest in that sort of thing. My advice, find something you love and set up time with people who do it to get advice on how to transition into that field. A lot of people work long hours, but that is there own fault. They should just STOP working long hours and stop making promises to deliver on things they can't.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your subbordinates, sometimes they have good ideas. Also, judge employees on objectives not by comparing them against each other.
Pros
Great place to work. Flexible hours and task oriented. Challenging work that you will enjoy working on. You will have satisfaction that you are making an impact. Teaches you how to handle multiple projects at a time.
Cons
None. Based on time spent.
Advice to Senior Management
The cubicles and floor colors are a bit boring. Needs to have life. Every floor looks the same.
