Pros
Good place to learn new things.
Lots of project to work on.
Cons
Big Company.
Depends on the group joined.
Advice to Senior Management
Again a Big Company...
Pros
good company to work rigt out of college. Cutting edge CAD tools and advande design challanges. Fairly good learning curve for the first few years.
Cons
Lot os politics and favorable treatment for handfull few. After 5+ years in the company the advancement possibilities are limited. More like state/government job, show 9-5 for a pay check.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen the workers at grade3 through grade8 level and see why they leav ethe company. Lots of imcompetent people still holding manager positions otehrwise would be avialable to deserving candiadates.
Pros
compensation, leadership, benefits, publicity, location
Cons
extreme politics within the company
Advice to Senior Management
please reduce the politics
Pros
good salary
good compnsation
good work culture
Cons
no salary hike as compared with other companies
Advice to Senior Management
no
Pros
Big company perks in terms of getting software, tools, etc. Flexible work hours. Good work-life balance. Folsom has lots of perks for employees like a gym, etc.
Cons
rank and rating. very stressful times.
Advice to Senior Management
make rank and rating less stressful. recognize difficulties within local groups and issues with "matrix" reporting.
Pros
At one time it was a great place to work. High performers were recognized and rewarded with stock options and bonus money. Good place for engineers.
Cons
Sent a lot of I.T. Technical support jobs offshore. High expectations to perform at a very high level.
I.T. department has very little advancement. Entrenched management swaps chairs every year.
Ranking and Rating puts a premium on project personnel. Support personnel are penalized for doing support and not continuous improvement projects. Morale was low when I left.
Advice to Senior Management
Get back to basics that made Intel Corp a great place to work.
Lower and mid level managers are too plentiful and ineffective for smooth operations.
Pros
-you can change groups within intel
-flexible hours
-secure job
Cons
-if you are innovative and hardworking you will get suffocated
-there is minor or no diff between low performing and high perfoming employees-
- Un-necessary BS and less work
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to lower level people than sitting in cube and looking at xls and ppts.
Let innovation breathe
Pros
Working on exciting technology that Intel is doing.
Cons
Beaurocratic company which resuts in slower decision making
Advice to Senior Management
Quicker decision making and practical sense
Pros
opportunities to move internally but you have to stick in a position for 1 year before you can move. So if you do not like the position you are stuck there for a year whether you like it or not
Cons
less pay
long work hours
Bad management
They micro- manage when it is not needed
Very inefficient
lot of meetings
Direct manager who is not technical
Advice to Senior Management
Stop micro-managing and try not to take advantage of the market condition when compensating the employee. Only when the employee is happy can they perform to their best
Pros
the salary is good and the atmosphere is enthusiastic and competitive. i love to work there with all my colleagues its a great experience.
Cons
the downsides are that folsom is a little away from the bay area and somtimes it is tough to maintain good connections with the other people in the industry
Advice to Senior Management
they should remain the same and always understand the requirements of the employees and help them in striking a balance between the work and life.
