I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible work hours, funds for team builders/quarter activities and free coffee/soda/fruit.

    Cons

Pay is not as competitive, there is low morale due to recent job cuts

    Advice to Management

Re-orgs/cuts should be implemented swiftly and transparently. Having multiple rounds/rumors keep employees in suspense and is not healthy.

Not such a great place to work - especially if you are an admin!

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent salary, great benefits and café onsite.

    Cons

No offices means admins having to book conference rooms, no break areas on each floor (have to go down to first floor for water/coffee/tea which is a hassle if you are on the top floor of a six story building) and no dedicated transportation system which is strange considering all the big tech companies such as Google, Yahoo and Apple have them. Admins are frequently asked to do things that are beyond the scope of reasonable requests. Since the company has a seven day a week work environment, admins will find that their managers want them to work on evenings and weekends. You can try to set boundaries but you have to stand firm or they will run over them. Also, it seems that it is okay to have managers who will intimidate and terrorize thinking they are helping you learn but in fact are actually creating an unprofessional and extremely stressful environment. One last thing, while there may be great benefits, you will find it hard to use them as management frowns upon admins leaving early, coming in late or working from home when you have medical appointments. Everyone else seems to have that flexibility but the admins do not.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your admins so they are motivated to help take better care of you. Add in more incentives such as yearly stock option rewards for good service. Also, don't put your new to Intel admins with overly difficult managers. Give the admin time to learn Intel's processes and procedures.

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team of managers that work hard to support one another in improving their management styles and increasing productivity for the facility.

    Cons

It is a shift work position, very rigid schedule for a salary position that doesn't allow for flexibility during the day. They say they hire the best, but then try to pay the best with less than average salaries. Cubical city, if you don't like cubicles with loud neighbors then don't work here.

    Advice to Management

build a better career progression path for management in manufacturing. The position really consists of relaying information from engineering to senior management. Little impact is made on the manufacturing side...mostly dealt with managing people over processes. This position could be eliminated and have the Engineering Group Leaders manage a few more people.
