Pros
The work environment is great, and the relationship between colleagues are great. I've made many friends there. People are more care technical, and less care about political, at least in Opensource Technology Center. It's very proud of me to work there, with these great peoples, and receive recognize from my work. I liked the place very much.
Cons
The salary is not competitive with some junior position, and get promotion is hard, need a lot of time. As my first job, I really appreciate Intel, but I am able to find much better work with my skill learned at Intel, compared to the salary there. Even though, I still love this place, where I spent my first 4 years of career.
Advice to Senior Management
Should be more competitive on salary, especially for the people grow up in the Intel. Their loyalty is without doubt, but you should still pay them better.
Pros
good work and life balance
Cons
it is not a fast growing business and company as well as employees
Advice to Senior Management
move faster
Pros
- great culture overall, esp. the meritocracy
- competitive compensation package
- willing to share company success through stock purchase and assignment..
- open and fair working environment - everyone sits in a cubicle of the same size, including CEO!
- innovation and IP creation are much encouraged inside Intel
Cons
- middle management sometimes can be a mess
- hiring is somehow too loose, esp. on good economy environment, resulting in getting many incompetent employees
- does not know how to do software business well
Advice to Senior Management
- be more risk taking, esp. in investing in key areas that must fight in
- focus on more organizational development and leave other problems to capable hands
- retain talents by empowering/growing talents while the business is growing
Pros
Pay is relatively good, good family and work balance
Cons
Office politicizes is a big issue.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn and move on
Pros
good place to start a career. talent colleagues will help you grow. complicated system let you know how a big company like Intel workds.
Cons
bad place to continue your career. Not much room for promotion. some managers are really stunk. staying there for long time doesn't mean you are that smart.
Advice to Senior Management
Be nice to someone different from you.Manager really need to update their skills and view.
It's meaningless that people fight at each other in the same company. Go ahead and solve the problem.
Pros
good working environment; nice management; flexibility
Cons
pay is not exceptionally well, but ok
promotion is relatively slow
Advice to Senior Management
can't think of anything so far
Pros
Intel emphasizes technology, can work on cut edge technology, and influence industry. encourage open and direct communication. there are many projects, employees can internal transfer to their interesting projects
Cons
in Intel R&D China, it's hard to promote to senior engineer and build reputation in industry. Software projects usually are not successful because didn't find a good way to make it successful yet.
Advice to Senior Management
as a software engineer, I hope Intel management to change their mind on software, don't develop software like hardware, and really emphasize software
Pros
In Intel, everyone is equal. You can argue with your manager, and your manager won't be angry with you.
Intel treats new graduate very well.
Cons
The salary is not very high. The company is too big, so sometimes it is not very efficient. This is the major problem of Intel.
Advice to Senior Management
I think Intel can reduce the hierarchies of the management levels. It will help improve the efficiency of the company.
Pros
In Intel A&P R&D Ltd, people can become very senior without being a manager, which is very good for one that is interested in a technical career.
Cons
The location is very far from the downtown, and consequently people have to spend a lot of time commuting every day.
Advice to Senior Management
I think it is a bad idea to have salary and promotion freeze in China last year, because China is a country with high growth and other companies in China are recruiting as crazy.
Pros
Working with alll the talented peopl. Good compensation.
Cons
The company needs more solid technical people and need a gut to compete head to head with other players.
Advice to Senior Management
Less strategy, more efficiency.
