Incredible place to grow your career!

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Toronto, ON (Canada)

I have been working at Intelex full-time

    Pros

Amazing work culture with an excellent onboarding process for new hires. When you aren't busy working there are countless ways to have fun both inside and outside of office hours. Challenging work helps keep your mind focused with exceptional teamwork amongst different departments. Employee hard work is rewarded and recognized. Employee growth is emphasized with various courses to improve and develop different skills. Free breakfast Thursdays and monthly birthday celebrations. Great atmosphere to spend your day working in and great location just outside of the downtown core and waterfront.

    Cons

Commuting without a car in the winter will likely require that you ride the streetcar/bus to the nearest subway station.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management does a good job at listening to employees and taking employee's feedback into consideration. They do a great job of keeping employees satisfied.

I have been working at Intelex full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Constant challenge of innovating in a field where results are seen right away and have an impact at the world right away. A real family environment where everyone looks out for each other.

    Cons

The philosophy of the company is a little too sales-directed (in that strategies and structures that work in sales are mimicked over the entire company, regardless of the appropriateness of the structure. Staffing and team building decisions aren't terribly well explained, leading some people to feel that sometimes favourites are being played.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Occasionally you confuse "hard work" with "copious work". While the perks and social benefits here are nice, some of that energy and cost could be put directly into compensation.

    Pros

Plenty of learning opportunities. Leadership is top notch. The co-workers are fantastic to work with, and the company is constantly making sure their employees are satisfied. The projects being worked on are challenging and rewarding.

    Cons

Suggestions for process change are sometimes difficult to propagate to the top. There are many process to follow which sometimes hinder development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep being as transparent to your employees as you are. It's a huge morale boost when you know where your company is headed.

Former Employee - Software Developer in Toronto, ON (Canada)

I worked at Intelex full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Most people are quite fun and helpful
-Perks like free coffee, Thursday breakfast, monthly iPad draws
-Chance to make an impact on a useful product

    Cons

-The culture they keep bragging about does not exist. A monthly draw for electronics is not culture. It's a distraction so people don't think about the real problems.
-You CANNOT work from home...on computer software...designed to run on the internet.
-The company is run as the CEOs personal kingdom. Micromanages everything, holds grudges, and is out of touch. E.g. All salary decisions are personally done by the CEO (really?). You will not advance very far unless you gain his favour.
-People are fired on a weekly basis. Have a backup plan.
-No work/life balance. If you even think of leaving before 5pm (even if you came in extra early), the CEO will not take kindly to that.
    - The "every employee gets a chance to sway the direction of the company" thing is a joke. You are basically put on the spot in front of your peers and the CEO and asked to make a suggestion. Are you really going to say the REAL truth? Or just something harmless? Be honest.
-Salary incases will be a tiny % of your initial salary (not in line with inflation small). Make sure that initial salary is something you're happy with.
    -Benefits are "meh"
-The company grows 50% a year but do employees ever see any of that? No profit sharing, stock options, etc. If they mention something called ETAB it's a scam (ask how the amount is calculated for a laugh).
-The company is basically the CEO and a tiny inner circle of his longtime friends (not necessarily VPs). Everyone else is expendable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Worry less about money (you have lots), and more about people.

I worked at Intelex full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

From time to time they will pay for various things like Jays games and cake on your birthday. It's been a few years but when I was there, there was some opportunity to move up quickly if management liked you and you made 200 calls a week.

    Cons

These guys "wing it" as they go. No doubt in mind that the marketing/sales execs have asked their employees to get on here and post positive reviews as this is how they achieve a lot of their "awards"
