Pretty good company to work for as a project engineer if you are not tied down.

Current Employee - Controls Engineer in Mason, OH

I have been working at Intelligrated full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are a project engineer you get to travel to different parts of the country. Salaried job with overtime over 45. The people are friendly and easy to work with, the immediate supervisors and managers are also very down to earth and many of them were promoted up through the different disciplines.

    Cons

Work life balance barely exists. You can be sent out to a site for a several month long project and only get to go home every other weekend. The project schedules are almost always behind from day one, the sales group sells what is barely possible to make which causes a lot of stress and long hours in an attempt to meet deadlines. Some of the project managers are hard to work with and can be more of a hindrance than a help.

I have been working at Intelligrated full-time

    Pros

The people are great and are a pleasure to work with. Great environment. Great laptop, monitors, and desk space. Paid for overtime overtime.

    Cons

Salary is low for the software industry and the usual corporate politics cause people to be hired that don't fit the needs of the company (from my point of view). The company is growing fast and sometimes can not handle all the customers brought in by sales.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decisions made by management seem to only preference selling a product and forget about the thinking through the decision

"We own you" mentality, no Work/Life balance

I worked at Intelligrated full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Nice equipment (laptop, phone provided)
-Nice headquarters facility in Mason, OH (with bistro cafe)
-Paid for overtime hours at straight-time rate

    Cons

-No work/life balance (excessive travel demands)
    -No flexibility
    -Poor management
    -No guidance or training

Travel: You are told travel is in the 30-40% range. Be aware that this essentially means being on-call every day. Travel can come in as short as a days notice, or may be planned in advance. You may be in the office for a couple months, but then travel for a couple months; you rarely know what your schedule will be like in advance. There is no flexibility for personal plans made; instead there is a "we own you" mentality where you have no choice in the matter. During the peak time of a project (which seems to happen to each employee around 3 times a year), expect to essentially relocate to the project site for 2-3 months, returning home only every other weekend (and even that is not guaranteed).

Travel Demands: While on travel, you will not get any days off. You will work through weekends. You will work anywhere from 10 hours - 24 hours a day, whether it be day or night shift or alternating. You will likely get very little sleep and be physically and mentally worn thin. You DO get paid for all the hours you work, though it is definitely a "grind or quit" environment with no sympathies for exhaustion. Often times meals are missed due to the busy schedule. Just because you work 10 straight days, etc, do not be expected to be given a day off, this is explicitly against the Intelligrated policy. PTO must be approved with a valid excuse, not taken freely.

Poor management: Managers/supervisors are very distant; constantly in meetings, annoyed to be bothered, and there is no communication. They are, however, strict about you being at your desk and working at all times. You will not be trained, instead you are given a desk and told to ask around for work to do. Often times this work is something you have not been trained in, and winds up being a painstaking process to get help with. Rarely thanked for your contributions by management. Bonuses are minuscule.

Performance Reviews don't give credit: Performance Reviews are based solely on a random set of "goals" set for all employees. You will not discuss your own personal accomplishments for the quarter at reviews, only if you are "on track" for the goals set by the company. These goals are fairly random and don't really indicate your individual progress. Because of this, you are never thanked for your contributions or recognized.

No Work Culture: no clubs, catering, lunch and learns are very rare, etc. Very little socialization in the company, which is surprising given the cafe and nice facility. Must be window-dressing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more considerate of the work/life balance. Be flexible with travel; give some options or heads up. If an employee works hard hours on the road for over a week with no off days, give the option to take a day off for recuperation. Communicate more with employees. Thank employees more for their services. Change performance reviews to have a section to simply list your own experiences.

I have been working at Intelligrated full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

People with huge experience, people who works really hard. Nice HQ building. Some people dedicated to support. Good friend there.

    Cons

Poor management. Everything like to buy a coffee machine is a big project. Expensive equipment not help to get sales. They don't know the international market. Poor attention to international business not enough or good people of customer service, it causes customers really upset and you cannot get business with them again. Low efficiency or productivity to get a quick answers from the management. Huge paperwork to all the process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to ear the people, the market. Is not possible to support with huge prices of our machines or equipment the huge staff of VP or executive manager. Our equipment us not the best.

Former Employee - AD Migration/Tier II Helpdesk in West Chester, OH

I worked at Intelligrated as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

The office environment was open to discussion regarding all aspects of IT. Both infrastructure and the help desk were able to work together to solve tough issues.

    Cons

While IT management as a whole were on top of their game, some project management was lacking attention to detail with regards to important pieces related to specific projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Attention to detail with regards to major projects could be improved upon by listening to those who are working closely with the day to day overall end user experience and solving the tough problems in a reasonable time frame.

I have been working at Intelligrated full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    -Pay is above industry standards
    -Knowledgeable techs
    -Great system

    Cons

    - “Customers always right attitude”, even when in the wrong
    - Work schedules constantly change with very short notice or regard to family life
    - Treatment by customer isn’t always the best and no support from HQ to correct the issues.
-requesrd to wear uniform andcarry a professinal look at all times , then provide a unofrom services

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate more with your lower echelon of CSTmembers to find the root cause of issues. you have great Technitions but due to the miss treatment the turn around rate is high. break that "customer is always right" mentality to better relations with customer mamangement and on site CST. I recmmended a friend, he was hired on and feels the same as above.

    Grind or quit...

I have been working at Intelligrated full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I like my coworkers. I am have a hard time coming up with any more pros at this time.

    Cons

Unpredictable travel makes it difficult to make personal plans. Nearly every project is sold with an "Accelerated" schedule. Raises are few and far between and rarely cover annual cost of living increases. Company "Standards" are an ever shifting quagmire of red tape that seem to get more cumbersome with every change. You either grind away under these conditions or you quit. The turnover rate in consistently high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Streamline your workers day-to-day processes. There is a great deal of wasted time spent stepping through redundant procedures for little or no gain to the company.
