    Pros

Amazing place to learn and grow. Lots of educational opportunities. Passionate and top-notch Agile environment. Huge focus on employee satisfaction, particularly for long-term staff.

    Cons

Senior management team is a clique of guys who prefer to golf and play hockey than manage the day-to-day operations. As a result, small issues can balloon into large ones because they don't keep an eye on the ball. Not a positive environment for women.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring in some outside people to help run your great company!

I have been working at Intelliware Development Inc. full-time

    Pros

    - Smart colleagues, diverse and challenging projects
    - Pop, beer and snacks at the office
    - "Flex" hours (must be present during 10-4 though and make up for any missed time)
    - Casual dress code
    - Convenient location downtown Toronto
    - Decent pay

    Cons

    - Time-sheets - management puts a lot of pressure to allocate the entire 40 hours per week with 15 min increments. Like if you step out for 15 minutes - you are supposed to write it up...
    - Pressure to stay within estimates - if a task was *estimated* to complete 1 day, but you finish it up in 1 1/2 or 2 - your manager is likely question that.
    - Old computer equipment (currently using 2012 workstation)
    - Overcrowded office - you end up sharing an IKEA table with your co-worker - just imagine 2 dual monitors side by side
    - Cheap outdated furniture - literally - IKEA tables
    - Benefits are lot lower comparing larger companies

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Not sure - to me they are putting a lot of effort already to make it a great company, considering the nature of the business (IT solutions provider).

I worked at Intelliware Development Inc. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Decent place to work
    Free snacks and drinks
    Public transit access

    Cons

Lots to list but here the the major ones:
    - Compensation policy is an insult. Imagine this scenario: they bring in somebody else who does the same job as you yet makes $20,000/annum more than you and gets a signing bonus.
    - Upper management has a tendency to use their subordinates to climb higher
    - A lot of people at the company are extremely fake led by the head of HR. Don't share your opinions.
    - Don't be surprised to see extremely unprofessional behaviour from your manager...even after you leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't expect you take my advice but there's a reason why IWD has been just another software sweatshop for years. Unless your start respecting talented people you won't have a hope in hell of getting anywhere.

I worked at Intelliware Development Inc.

    Pros

-Amazingly diverse and knowledgeable group of people
    -Flexible work hours
    -Open environment
-Free Mini-Kitchen with drinks and snacks
    -Ping Pong
    -Team Lunches
    -Lunch and Learns
-Many well know large clients, with different kinds of projects
    -Competitive Salary

    Cons

It is a relatively unknown, even though it has some very well known clients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Some of the best colleagues to work with.
    Social events.
    Free lunch.
Unlimited avenues for learning new technologies.
    Flat hierarchy.

    Cons

Sometimes the relaxed atmosphere is just a disguise and you really shouldn't express yourself.
Some Software Architects there are not 'normal' and need to learn some social skills and how to treat people.
Even though they promote flat hierarchy, I believe that some of the Architects do not respect this fact.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enforce flat hierarchy, do not let it be a sham.

Great Agile Software Development Company to work for!

Former Employee - Team Lead in Toronto, ON (Canada)

I worked at Intelliware Development Inc.

    Pros

Intelliware is a rare breed in the software development space in Canada. It practices agile development via Extreme Programming and has lots of bright people working there. It really practices what it preaches and is getting better at publicizing that good work it's been doing to further the cause of the development of agile practices in Canada and around the world.

Intelliware also practices a controlled growth approach, making sure not to take in more than it can chew. Hence, you will not see massive expansion and massive layoffs.

    Cons

Intelliware is experiencing some growing pains as with any company growing beyond a certain size. As it is doing consulting based projects and it isn't such a big company, sometimes it is hard to switch between projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work and give more opportunities for people to grow.
