    Pros

Great employees, even some great managers have come through the door unfortunately, they don't usually stay as they have the potential to making some great improvements to the Barclay instead of just creating another bullet point on their resumes.

    Cons

High turnover of management, lack of shared important information between departments. Some managers where just awful they stayed a long time

    Advice to Management

Be better at the hiring process, Good management comes in all shapes, sizes and nationalities

    Pros

Nice office environment, free dry cleaning, lunch, good work life balance

    Cons

No long term planning, always putting out fires, needs to be more proactive instead of reactive, makes for a tense and uncomfortable work environment when things get rough

    Pros

Awesome Benefits Package Good Co-Workers Nice, New Hotel

    Cons

Poor compensation promised promotion potential, but really non-existent poor management HR department needs to be re-trained

    Advice to Management

Learn that you cant charge for EVERYTHING to increase revenue! There are two open positions in management but yet you refuse to promote anyone from within. There are at least 2 people there that deserve those respective promotions. And you may lose them, no you will lose them due to poor compensation and by NOT promoting them.

  6. A great place to stay...

    Pros

If you enjoy working in hospitality and in a team-oriented environment, then this is the perfect place for you. There is a diverse work force, you interact with many people, coworkers and guests and working in the heart of NY is a plus. There is also opportunities to cross-train, promotion from within and even the ability to transfer between hotels if you want to stay in the Crowne Plaza family, but are relocating. They have a lot of employee prgrams/events and are very generous when it comes to prizes, giveaways and perks. You can also stay at other hotels at a discounted rate.

    Cons

The hotel business is open 24/7/365; too many personalities; alot of office politics; not enough pay, employee areas need to be renovated; employee morale is low; people sometimes sre not friendly, eventhough we are in hospitality, top-heavy management; lack of communication with regard to what's going in with and in the hotel. Some of the management has no clue how to manage people, have no people skills. opportunities for promotion for line staff is almost non-existant, unless someone retires or gets fired; alot of firings, very stressful enrvironment; some adults can act so childish, there is a lack of integrity and honesty.

    Advice to Management

Understand the value of employees' contribution to the hotel, and recognize/reward accordingly. Employee morale is important, they should be more aware of when it is low and the reasons why and make it a priority to fix.
