    Pros

you are able to be creative in your work. Althought there are standards to follow, the idea is to be your own. Create an experience for the guests. People want to get the real experience when they travel. InterContinental main focus, is to achieve that, in an elegant and refine place, without feeling stuffy. Each hotel has it's own character/ feel. InterContinental is a world wide company, so you could literaly travel the world working for them. I can say that I've had the opportunity to travel work/leisure on to differents hotels, and every where that I go, is always a new and exciting experience. Live, eat and Sleep @ the InterContinental.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, Travel discounts, Family oriented, School reimbursment, Great coworkers. Personal (sick) time is available anytime after 90th day.

    Cons

Newhires must earn deisred their schedule, AWOP (absent with out pay) option is highly addictive when slow booking season approaches.

    Advice to Management

Employee promotions should be constructed more fairly. Spend more $ on employees than upgrading/updating offices. Airline/Hotel discounts should be shared.

    Pros

When learning a new trade, it is often difficult to adjust to new settings. However, the general manager may have a great idea going with hiring interns instead of applicants. Giving the interns the time shadowing their future employers for such an extensive period.

    Cons

When working the audit, it can be odd at times, especially when guests are complaining over minuet details, or even the bigger things. Also, the quietness can get to you at times, leading to a slight uneasiness.

    Advice to Management

Just to be more understanding of the employees in all aspects.

    Pros

Paragon Investments LLC/Lakewood Colton LLC Aka Holiday Inn Express team members are all part of an employee/family by respecting, and committing themselves to the guests of the hotel and one another we have a great hotel guests and employees love! Working in an atmosphere where you can enjoy one another through fun and work makes Holiday Inn Express Colton a place where employees like going to work not only for a paycheck, but to be part of a family at work. Family respect and consideration is given to the employees first and above all. Employees are given time for family and employees in return are giving back to the Hotel by working hard to make it our Business Successful. At Paragon Investments LLC/Lakewood Colton LLC Holiday Inn Express Colton California Family is a great part of what makes a great employer and great employees. Most employees have additional employers but tend to stay employed at Holiday Inn Express Colton for many years turn over here is 3-5 employees from a staff of 27 per year.

    Cons

Hours available for front desk agents are minimal due to the economy management covers most front desk hours. (Management is hopeful this will change in 2012). This factor often requires agents to have additional employers due to the few hours available to them. Employee benefits are unable to be acheived due to employees unable to work fulltime weekly hours for terms required for these benefits.

    Advice to Management

create more fultime positions available for employee benefits to be acheived

    Pros

The employee discount is a pretty awesome perk. You get to travel for very cheap and go to places all over for next to nothin.

    Cons

The cons would definitely be the hours and that hotels are open 24/7 365. It can be difficult to work the hours if you have a family life.

    Advice to Management

There is always room for advancement with hotels. Turnover is high and people can move up to management positions quickly but there's not a lot of room for advance besides assistant manager and general manager.
