The work is rewarding if you can handle the pace. It moves very quickly and there is little time to celebrate successes.

I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The leadership is one of the best I've ever worked for. The office culture is one that foster a team spirit that makes you aware that you aren't in it alone. Teamwork is important.

    Cons

Having a work/life balance is tough in this environment. There is always a feeling that you must be connected to the office. It is hard to truly get away. The benefits are good but are not impossible to walk away from.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue pushing the envelope and innovating. But do so with the employees in mind to ensure they don't get burned out. It's probably not best to have 20+ priorities in a year.

    Pros

Many employees have long tenure with the company and they stay because of great benefits, growth potential, and room for advancement.

I am not sure what the cons are yet.

I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Travel discounts, education benefits, easy work, complete training, Corporate events that were worth attending, very charitable organization, easily accessible, relaxation spaces for employees.

    Cons

Constantly changing metrics stopped rewarding the top sellers. The employee discounts were rarely available, and certain hotels were essentially exempt from offering this rate (despite violating corporate policies).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep track of brand standards when running promotions. Don't put all the sales pressure on phone agents, when it is marketing's job to properly describe the special events in the first place.

I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

It is truly a global company both in geographic and cultural coverage. Myriad of possibilities to growth.

    Cons

Sometimes its very big size makes decision process a little bit slow. It is not a regular and general tendency; yet it happens sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up providing stimuli to people remain in the company as well as to people return to the company

I have been working at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Solid raise schedule and constantly accruing PTO to go along with insurance and (in my experience) a flexible schedule and a boss that cares about everyone who walks in the door that they have a great experience here.

    Cons

Unforgiving for new employees, especially if working around the busy season. If you don't have a long tether, you may have trouble working with at least dozens of people a day

    Pros

Culture and stability are the biggest wins for the current employees

    Cons

All we need is a pension plan. However, of 401k for all corporate and hotel employees is ground breaking.
