I worked at Interactive Data full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Ample vacation days/good health benefits
    Mostly friendly immediate management

    Cons

There is no room for growth. When upper positions open up, they are mostly filled by outside candidates. Also, the compensation is ridiculously low and not at all relative to quality of work. Their idea of a raise one year was $500.

The former has contributed to an extremely low morale and bred a toxic environment. Those above you are quick to throw you under the bus for issues that you had nothing to do with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees or else you're going to keep losing them to mediocre replacements

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

The work environment at Interactive data is pretty laid back. Work isn't as stressful as it could be with bosses always over your shoulder at other companies.

    Cons

Hard to move up in company. Advancement is possible but appears to be very limited and only comes when other people leave their current position making it very tough to advance if employee turnaround is low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide a clear cut path to advancement

I worked at Interactive Data full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

In the four years I spent there, was allowed to attend two off-site training classes, provided their was no travel or hotel expenses involved.

    Cons

Management is not technology literate. Continue supporting 20+ year old mainframe applications, no plans for refactoring. Paranoid culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time to move out the incompetent management and replace with a younger skilled set.

Former Employee - Customer Service Representative in Bedford, MA

I worked at Interactive Data full-time for more than a year

    Pros

IDC offers a lot of training. Employees will develop a good knowledge of financial markets/products even w/o a finance background,
    bonus' are paid quarterly,
    benefits are not too bad,
bedford office is pretty lax in terms of attire

    Cons

promotions are a joke - based off longetivity (or are pre-deteremined) rather than merit
old timers are not going anywhere, which leaves only sales positions as possible path up corporate ladder
little chance of moving to a position in chicago or ny from bedord office. management is not interested in utiizing current employees.
sales team is not reliable for support....will throw customer service reps under the bus

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

train employees on the products rather than the data,
be more cognizant of employees who know their stuff and could be assets in the future.

    Pros

Great co-workers, good salary and bonus.

    Cons

New management has no clue what this company is about and doesn't care about the future of IDC. They are trying to sell IDC to make a quick profit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get out of IDC sooner.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Bedford, MA

I worked at Interactive Data full-time

    Pros

Good place for middle-aged folk, good work-life balance for most projects.

    Cons

New management has changed culture for the worse, also attempting to apply a universal technical solution to the entire company with "their guys" who are not IDC employees. Lots of legacy technology, new technology not well supported. Lousy communication between business units and software teams at times, lots of mutual mistrust.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If someone is going to reorganize the company, they would have a lot more credibility as employees.
