Technology driven ├╝bengineering company that lost focus of market needs and priorities.

Senior Product Manager (Current Employee)
San Mateo, CA

I have been working at Intercomponentware

ProsA technology focused organization with lots of smart people and clever ideas that applied Agile processes and solid engineering principals to deliver the highest-quality software.

ConsThere were too many changes in CEOs and corporate direction to maintain a clear vision for the company and its staff.

Advice to Senior ManagementMany successful companies run by the motto: "see a need, fill a need", however very few have been successful by first creating something and then afterwards going to look for people who need it.

Completely misguided company

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
San Mateo, CA

I worked at Intercomponentware

ProsSome of the people at Intercomponentware are good to work with. The benefits offered are very good. The work load is not too demanding.

ConsManagement is completely incompetent. They have no leadership skills and they squash all leadership shown from below. There is no reward for doing good work nor for being a team player. Only the jerks who stepped on others were rewarded with promotions when I was there. The biggest downfall of all is that corporate headquarters in Germany micromanages everything, which frustrates all attempts by US employees to sell the products in the US.

Advice to Senior ManagementRebel against corporate influence. Force the people who do nothing all day to do work or leave. Focus less on sales and more on creating a sellable product. Reward those who actually achieve.

This company will not survive

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Intercomponentware

Prosability to work from home, although not all systems are available all the time
access to tools required to do the job

Consconstant chaos of reorganisation
lack of real communication from management
poor morale
If you take holidays longer than a week you can be practically guaranteed your job will have changed.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate real figures, concentrate on real projects, reduce staff by at least 50%, and start earning money rather than relying on a billionaire sponsor.

Not ready to be successful yet

Project Manager (Former Employee)

ProsIt is a very promising field. The company still have the chance to be a "first" in the market.

Consthe company seems to be lost in the market... It has never earned enough money to pay its internal costs, and looks like it got used to receive money from investors, without the need to really be effective and competitive in its markets and projects.
Too much time and energy lost with non-important issues. No support to really make things happen.

A potential company for an emerging health care technology field, just needs a push in the right direction

Product Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at Intercomponentware

ProsBenefits are great. Colleagues are dedicated to the products.

ConsThere is a long term vision for the company, however, there still lacks direction and guidance. Market research tells a different story from what management forces through the pipeline. Many employees are hired internationally but nothing seems to get done. Constant position vertical movements among management who are not great choices. Lack of recognition from management.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop hiring people, there are enough people working there. It's not a positive thing when you have over 700 employees and cannot serve the needs of your customers. Look at the current employees and provide recognition to those who are capable, but weed out the employees who just drink coffee all day. Concentrate on what the INTERNATIONAL market wants otherwise you will miss global opportunities.
