    I worked at Interline Brands

    Pros

Good at what they do however their technology is very old. Great folks to work with. Nice culture. Growing company.

    Cons

There are 2 separate cultures (geographically - HQ is in Jacksonville, FL) and multiple perspectives with individuals. This could be good or a curse. Perception is everything. It was a curse to some. No employee development whatsoever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your people. Morale is good in some locations and poor in the Mid-Atlantic. Offer training and development of your people. Improve your perception to folks that do not have face to face contact.

    Pros

Good people in the rank & file (they know how things really are)

    Cons

    Operationally very weak
Closed culture - strong silo culture
Us (the "learned" senior management) vs. Them (the working class backbone of the org.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Seek engagement from employees -
    Value employees
Enhance the very basic benefit package

    Pros

    Great people, inspired to succeed.

    Cons

The company was lost touch with it's identity in it's quest to grow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Regain focus on the fact that the people who do the work are the reason the company is successful. There are many contributions from them that are taken for granted every day that go unnoticed. It is these people and their contributions that have enabled this company to achieve it's past successes. Do not lose sight of this in your quest to continue the growth.

I worked at Interline Brands full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

A very large product line, and the excitement of negotiating the price of virtually every SKU sold. If you like fast negotiating, this is the job for you!

    Cons

Petty micromanagement by immediate superiors. One month they want you to increase sales, the next month they want you to get your margins up. Their CRM is completely out of date - actually three different CRMs, one of which is DOS based. Can you believe that? Warehouses consistently make mistakes, ship broken merchandise; infuriating clients. Management visits from the House of Lords down the street once per quarter, smiles., makes Happy Talk then leaves, same old same old. I got really tired of the treadmill and left.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace half your middle managers, especially a certain arrogant, overrated one at Bay Street. Try listening instead of talking. Invest in a modern CRM. Get competitive on margins.

I have been working at Interline Brands

    Pros

Tremendous amount of outside vendor support and internal training. Good middle management.

    Cons

The company has a great deal of potential but is loosing share in the new world of Internet and price economics. There are concerns about our not so friendly billing methods. With the current sate of the company there is a disintegrating commission structure. There seems to be a disconnect between those in leadership positions and those in the office and those on the streets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Coach don't manage, unless managing someone out of the door. Listen, extend support and take the time necessary to learn the business..

I have been working at Interline Brands full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Your working for a company that sells toilet paper so your helping keep peoples bums clean
    Seemingly strong leadership from executives
Company respects you, unless your in IT
    Focus on sales

    Cons

Helpdesk has terrible leadership. The people manning the desk are great but always seam to be held down
Extremely old systems and they cannot migrate the data more current systems
Support Center people are treated like garbage
Institutional level failing at the help desk level
Support Center positions are not really IT jobs...just trouble shooting proprietary systems
Support Center personal will not learn anything to take to a new job and it's by design

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat IT like the backbone of the company and get new help desk leadership

    Pros

    Large Warehouse
    Understanding Supervisors
    Great Attitudes (Most People)
    Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision
    Paid Holidays
    Overtime Available
Train on equipment immediately such as Cherry Picker( Order Picker), Reach Truck, Forklift, Walkie-riders etc.
    Good Stepping stone

    Cons

Can be many hours, especially on the Shipping side.
    Hot in the Summer

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful of the analysts. They are promising big returns and are no more knowledgeable about the why of things than when they arrived a year ago. They have plenty of numerical data but without true logistic data it's worthless.
