    I have been working at Internap Network Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Excellent PTO time,benefits and competitive salary!! Able to work from home and flexible time. Doesn't micro manage!

    Cons

    Lack proper training and I think there should also be a stronger HR department that supports employees on a more personal level!! I don't see minorities and women in senior management and middle mgmt positions!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get involved with employees that will create a balanced and positive environment ! Boost morale by creating functions that motivate employees to want to stay! Get involved in the community by giving back! Give to schools or shelters to show that Internap cares about the community. Creative a culture for the company that is positive and encouraging creating company values and upper management leading by example!! Allow people to grow within the company and allow minorities who are qualified to advance to senior and middle mgmt positions!!

    Pros

    Benefits were ok, commission was good. Base salary was ok.

    Cons

    A lot of turnovers, several a year. Not many advancement opportunities. Some manager aren't willing to allow working from home.

    Follow through with the round table discussions with employees and LISTEN.

    Pros

    small teams, good people, reasonable autonomy to do the job and manage my time as I saw fit.

    Cons

    Senior management's due diligence on M&A was shoddy, This caused massive transition pains and ultimately layoffs of many employees resulting in higher work loads for those remaining. Those executives have also been replaced.

    I have been working at Internap Network Services

    Pros

    New CEO is defininitely on the right track if he can do everything he says he wants to do. He inherited a company where some really bad decisions had been made in the last couple of years. He obviously can't fix everything overnight. He has identified and recruited some top talent to fill some obvious gaps. The internal culture and working environment is pretty good for most departments and there are several star bosses in the mix. Work life balance seems pretty fair and compensation seems to be in line with the market.

    Cons

    The internal IT systems have been stretched way beyond their capabilities and create a huge amount of manual intervention for even the most simple tasks. Unfortunately the IT department is woefully understaffed and while they do their best, they don't seem to be able to deliver everything that is asked of them. I am amazed when the finance department is able to The new CEO has addressed the product side of IT with some highly qualified talent, I just hope he and the CFO will now spend some time focusing on the internal systems as well. Also, I hope there is some vision for how to deal with the rapid evolution of technology as far as the products are concerned. Customers are consolidating data centers and the competition continues to erode the IP margins. What is the real future competition killer product? Also would be nice to see some real professional development opportunities - training, mentor programs, cross divisional interaction other than just pointing fingers at each other and talking behind each others' backs.

    Fix the IT issue, it impacts everyone in the company. If you really do intend to take this company to the next level over the long term (and not just polish it up to sell it off) figure out a way to automate the error prone and overly burdensome manual processes. Money is literally leaking out of those holes and the customers and employees are tired of excuses.

    Pros

    Great benefits and immersion into the IT world. Great Job if you a quick learner and can pick up concepts quickly.

    Cons

    Shift work. Can't really join any social clubs that meet on a regular schedule, as there is not much warning for when your shift will change. Usually 2 weeks max if its a morning<>evening schedule change. They do give you further warning if its a day or evening <> night change. Internap tends to be a department blame game between all sectors in Internap. Tools are not up to par with business needs to support the customer base, and management has been promising to get the tools needed for years, citing budget issues as the main cause for not having these tools available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen more to customer feedback. Upper management needs to listen more to the parties that interface directly with customer and know their needs best rather than making blind decisions that hurt the company image, financially and everyone that works there emotionally.

    Pros

    Good but not great compensation (very good salary, mediocre benefits) high growth industry which is constantly changing means you'll always have plenty to do and new projects to tackle which is nice.

    Cons

    Work-life balance is an afterthought at best, corporate culture is highly siloed and left to the GM's / SVP's to create and maintain who may or may not care to do so. Highly fragmented workplace.

    Very high turnover and constant layoffs. minimal opportunities for advancement. Poor Senior Management, lack leadership skills.

    Pros

    Glad that someone was willing to give me a start in management, but not this place is a cluster f. Decent salary, decent pto, great people.

    Cons

    Uninformed management in regards to the mission of this company. Hiring non-IT people to manage IT people rarely works out and this place is a shining example.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get rid of the senior level people who have no idea what they're doing. All they do is create confusion and hinder the workflow as opposed to help it. They then try to hire more senior level people for guidance and those people barely have a clue. Seems like everyone just adds unnecessary busy work to the necessary busy work and nothing gets done until the 25th hour. Stop having a million calls a week for the same project. Have one call, assign responsibilities, and do it. Seems like everything is talked about and no one takes action until the last possible minute.
