I worked at International Game Technology (Less than a year)

    Pros

Happy with work/life balance and friendly people

    Cons

Really don't have much cons other than sudden changes in the upper management due to the merger with GTECH

    Pros

My days were always different even if I had my "to do" list, I could never stick to it, something would come along with higher priority. Great bunch of people in all departments and regions. Loved going to work each and every day!

    Cons

Many fringe benefits that were available for years,. Slowly they were taken away over the past 3-4 years. International Game Technology (IGT) used to draw people years ago for the many extra benefits they offered.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your lower paid hourly employees and compensate with annual pay increases. Upper management should take pay cuts if company is having financial difficulties.

    Pros

This place used to be one of the best places in the country to work. Reno is beautiful and close to the mountains

    Cons

Horrendous treatment of employees and upper management misguided what was one of the top performing companies.

    Advice to Management

They were recently bought out and management was all let go. They need to get the experienced people back that the previous management got rid of or left because of poor treatment.

I worked at International Game Technology full-time

    Pros

Interesting work and industry. Some very talented staff members across both LV and Reno offices who are gaming industry veterans. Decent benefits and office environment.

    Cons

Very turbulent environment with a great deal of turnover, shifting priorities and management changes. Most activities were around cost-cutting to prepare for a sale of the company.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully the new management will create more stability and a better sense of purpose for the employees left working at IGT.

I have been working at International Game Technology full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Most Employees are easy to work with, eager to help, eager to be kind and while only a few are not recognized, often work through their lunches, come in early and often stay late to finish their workloads

    Cons

work loads are totally unbalance even within some teams. You see job postings for certain positions yet if you walk through some departments, you will find jig saw puzzles in progress, entire departments gone for two hour lunches, employees allowed to pick their own hours...just not right. If you have time to do all that, why the heck are you posting for new employees while other departments or employees can even get what they need to do their jobs

    Advice to Management

Stop allowing departments to build their own silo's / empires. Have all employees work the same hours so all is fair and right. If employees are suppose to take a one hour lunch, ensure that is truly the case. Stop the favoring of some employees which is often the managements "friends". and for heaven sakes....please explain how you can justify a manager, a supervisor and two leads for a team of 5. That make two regular employees. Out rages when others are struggling or looking at loosing their jobs.

I worked at International Game Technology full-time

    Pros

Good people to work with, especially below the director level. Competitive benefits package. Good work/life balance

    Cons

Company in a state of flux with recent merger/acquisition. Weak at director/vp level. Some hope with the merger displacing poor directors/vps. New company making some questionable retention decisions - mostly out of lack of knowledge.

    Advice to Management

Keep working to understand what you have in your new employees and revisit your hiring/firing decisions. There are positives and I think this company could come out of the current turmoil well, but of course it could turn out a long-term disaster.
