    I worked at International Junior Golf Tour as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    I was able to see all aspects of the company (operations, marketing, accounting, sales, customer service) Had a good ratio of time spend in the office and on a golf course. Got to get outside a few days a week, and always had at least one day off a week, which is rare in the golf industry.

    Cons

    The management does a poor job communicating with the entire staff, even if they are just interns, they still need to know information because are the ones dealing directly with the customers. They are behind on their bills, and finances were all screwed up when I was there. Hopefully they fixed that.

    Pros

    Hilton Head isn't a terrible place I guess. Honestly, besides that, not much is very good about this company.

    Cons

    This company could not be run any more poorly. They don't pay their bills on time and everything is so poorly organized. there have been instances of vendors physically showing up to the office demanding their check, since they are never paid on time.

    Pros

    I worked as an intern, and the other intern staff was amazing. Free housing, great location, and the occasional free golf.

    Cons

    Working 60+ hours a week with little pay and 0 recognition from tournament directors. You are treated as a work horse and nothing more. They also do absolutely nothing to help you find a full time position after the internship ends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Show a little appreciation towards your interns!!!!!!!!!

    I have been working at International Junior Golf Tour full-time

    Pros

    There are honestly some pros of working here, especially if you can make it work for a short time. Many of the students and parents that you meet through the tour and academy are great people, students are hard working and are passionate about what they are training for. Opportunities in the market are really good, but that is probably the only thing keeping this company working.

    Cons

    C-level management is beyond terrible. They consistently lie to employees, vendors, partners, and even customers...have even gone as far as cook the books to make the company look better/different than what it really is. They encourage making promises that are impossible to keep, both to customers and employees. They are obsessive micro-managers yet the CEO is there half the time and the COO is there between 10 and 4, but leaves constantly to take lunches, go to the gym, and get her hair done. She even brings in her two young children and makes the employees babysit for hours at a time.

    They haven't had a profitable year in at least 3 years, probably much more than that. The only thing keeping the company afloat is the private equity group that owns it, but is currently trying to sell.

    Don't drive the company in the ground and then force employees to talk to bill collectors for you.

    Great Location
    Golf Industry
    Get to Travel throughout Northeast and Southeast US with some West Coast Exposure
    Good Connections within the golf industry
    Work around some of the top junior golfers in the world

    Cons

    Long Hours without compensation
    Terrible communication throughout management
    Lack of leadership skills with supervisors
    Lies about chance for growth in company

    Work on communication throughout employees and make sure supervisors have leadership skills.

    Hilton Head Island and lots of golf
    Kids are mostly fun to be around
    Not brain surgery - work isn't real challenging

    Cons

    They are looking for slaves not employees
    Management does not like to share information for employees
    If you don't drink the kool-aid you will be fired for not being a team player

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Appreciate the people you have and don't treat them like pawns and morons. Take a close look at some of your leadership team and how they treat their "teams". You have a good model, but you treat people like crap.

    Pretty free to do whatever you feel like doing. Leadership will completely trust you to do your job.

    Cons

    While leadership will completely trust you to do your job, they will not tell you if you have done something wrong until they come to fire you.

    Poor leadership.
    Leadership thinks they are hot-to-trot, when they actually are mocked and laughed at due to their incredibly elitist attitudes.

    Pros

    It's an opportunity to work with young people who are working hard toward achieving their dreams of playing college golf.

    Cons

    This company is in shambles. They haven't paid outstanding bills from over 6 months ago and employees are using personal credit cards to pay bills for the company - and those employees are now getting stiffed on those bills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Senior management is too full of themselves to see the problem is their decision making. You should also reward employees for good performance instead of stealing their credit.
