I worked at International Paper (more than 10 years)

    Pros

IP has numerous opportunities if you are willing to move and can adapt to living in smaller, rural locations. The Memphis headquarters provides a broad range of jobs and young professionals with drive will typically excel and be recognized. Compensation is above average for the industry.

    Cons

Bureaucracy is still an issue, though it improved over the time I worked there. Career paths are relatively specific and those who do not get experience in manufacturing, may find it hard to advance to senior levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to add diversity within your ranks - more women at senior levels is a must.

I have been working at International Paper full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great money!, hourly, overtime and profit sharing. NEVER hassled about time off EVER! Lots of additional trade training. My opinion and experience counts. They have an excellent safety program and they take safety very seriously. Everyone is equal, you can talk to anyone from supervisors and area managers all the way up to the mill manager anytime about anything. I like the atmosphere, it's laid back when things are going good and serious and challenging when they aren't.

    Cons

Typical stuff like lack of communication, why don't they fix this or that, nothing to lose sleep over. I can't think of anything that would make me want to seek another job.
