I worked at International Paper full-time

    Pros

The pay and benefits were above average.

    Cons

The long hours- often working mandatory 6-7 day work weeks for many months at a time.

    Advice to Management

More balance between work/home life for dedicated employees would be far more conducive to exemplary results in terms of quality production.

    Pros

Management is fair with workload. Pay is good for first job in the field. Have a great network linking you with other new hires, interns and as many people as possible. Overall great environment to work in.

    Cons

First couple steps up the ladder seem more about putting your time in than actively excelling. Some people tend to work less hours frequently and not receive any punishment. Teams tend to not immediately include you so you occasionally have to find your own work

    Advice to Management

Try to include new team members in the teams that they are hired onto. Give more options to developers to move to other areas of development.

    Pros

Love it here. There is great development and room for moving up the proverbial ladder.

    Cons

Long hours. Long hours. Long hours. Sub par health insurance.

    Advice to Management

It would be advantageous to change from Southern swing to dupont cycle.

    Pros

Money was decent. Job scope and role were satisfying. Engaged hourly employees. Performance driven by clear metrics. Employer brand. Toolbox I took away

    Cons

Headquartered in Memphis, everything is political, lots of travel, you have to go to grow, no clear career paths established, isolation of facilities

    Advice to Management

Move headquarters to another city, don't insist on so much travel for employees

    Pros

Good company with good pay and benefits.

    Cons

Chances for minority groups are limited at the plant level. Long hours in production with very little notice to employee. Some advancement in floor production are based on experience with no consideration on leadership or people skills. Very limited chance for advancement. Majority of plant leadership department head positions are white dominated and recruited from out of town.

    Advice to Management

Train develop local talent in leadership skills. Company needs to improve on diversity at the plant level and leadership positions.
