    Pros

Good people Diverse projects Travel Benefits Lots of drama

    Cons

Zero Mentoring Zero Leadership 0-2% increases Executive Level Greed Foreign Ownership

    Advice to Management

Leadership since the departure of great ones that built and developed employees and the business has been replaced by zombies fighting for revenue. Why did Joe Welch, Don Nicholson, Bob O'Gornan and Todd Straka leave? On Linkedin these guys continue to lead and change the world. Leadership is replaced with engineers with no management skills. Failing long term. Get a union!

    Pros

Interesting business ,always changing ,client meetings are always different

    Cons

Spent a year plus building a sales team with knowledge that my compensation plan was unrealistic . I believed finally that 2015 those numbers would be reached . They let me go before that could be realized ,someone else will reap the benefit of my hard work .

    Advice to Management

None ,they would not consider it anyway

    Pros

For some this may be an opportunity for a lifetime if you play the politics game and fit in with its senior management, much of whom have grown up in the company and know no other.

    Cons

Intertek is a large company that has not invested in systems - financial and otherwise, that are found in most large cooperations. Many of its senior managers have not been employed outside of Intertek and therefore lack an understanding of how to manage a large cooperation. It does not value its employees and has a high turnover as a result. There is minimal investment in employees and no formal on-boarding program. It does not welcome new ideas and individuals who challenge the status quo.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully, the new CEO will recognize these issues and shake up "the old boys club" and infuse a breath of fresh air into Intertek;s historical culture that has discourage innovation.

I worked at Intertek Testing Services NA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Land of opportunity, if you have the drive a lot of growth potential - Wide range of positions and roles - Successful public company - Little management oversight, free to make decisions

    Cons

    - Poor training - Limited management interaction with direct reports - Revenue drives the company at all cost - Be ware of the Intertek location, very wide and inconsistent between locations - High turn over rate - Does not value employees

    Advice to Management

Intertek could be a great company. Intertek spends a tremendous amount of time on its image and understanding the market. Unfortunately Intertek falls short in providing the tools necessary to it employees to meet the clients expectations. With more guidance from upper level management Intertek could truly affect change.

    Pros

Good benefits, flexible schedule, close to home

    Cons

Work hard to do a good job & watch all sorts of people screwing off all day. People who do little to nothing seem to get promoted quickly. It doesn't matter that you do a great job, you will never get paid what you deserve unless you are one of the in group, who seem to be basically worthless as far as doing any kind of job. If you are good at what you do you get stuck in the position you're in because they won't let you move. They will hire a new worker with zero knowledge or experience with Intertek before promoting an employee who has been working with the company for years... Unfair practices. and of course they will blow smoke up your backside trying to convince you that the person was the best pick for the job, never mind that the person is a "friend" of the hiring dept manager.

    Advice to Management

Start recognizing who the hard working people are and rewarding them with the salary they deserve. Start weeding out the waste. This company could be so much more than it is if it only had decent management. Even good managers have no power to make any significant changes. Stop putting people over departments they know nothing about nor do they care!

    Pros

    Large, growing, stable, global company

    Cons

They promote a lot of people from within the company if they are ambitious and willing to work tons of hours. Just because someone is good at sales, does not mean that they are a good leader. Many of the mid level management do not know how to support their people. Base salary is quite a bit lower than the competition

    Advice to Management

Try to be more competitive with the pay structure

    Pros

Good place to learn and build your experience in compliance certification. It is a good company to gain exposure to manufacturers which can be used to network to gain your next employment.

    Cons

For a $3 billion company, it is ridiculous that Intertek does not have a cross function enterprise software. Every department uses different home brewed software and sometimes each department uses multiple systems and manual excel sheets when clearly a more automated software are available at a very reasonable cost. If you have to work for Intertek, make sure you network with the right people. Learn how the politics work and side with them. If not, you will constantly need to justify your work.

    Advice to Management

Hire better people that are suited for the job. A lot of your supervisors are very poor at managing others. The common theme of the complains are office politics and lack of communications. Do better in those 2 fields.

  10. Trust Your Professionals with Office Supplies

    Pros

Very much a technology and computer driven office atmosphere. The computer programs are from at least the 2005 era. The office has very few paper files and everything is stored digitally.

    Cons

Modern-day technology. If you need to get a new battery for your mouse, you just need to save the old one, take it in person to the front desk during normal business hours, they go to a locked drawer, take the old one and then give you a new one. If that takes too much of your time, just stay late to make up for what you spent. Paperless office. If you want to get a pad of paper, you have to go in person the front desk and they will get from a locked cabinet. Cuts down on filing space. And that's if you a re a professional in the office.

    Cons
