I worked at Intervet full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

great product lines. Technical support was outstanding, training was superb, return policy and warranties were the best in the field. Shining Point program was an awesome idea to help reps do extra duties.

    Cons

always seemed to be one-two steps behind PFE. Advancement ops seemed to be limited. Company refocused to flea/tick markets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get more proactive, turn over home office employees who are not performing

Former Employee - Associate Technician in Baton Rouge, LA

I worked at Intervet full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Has no room for much growth. Promotions are not given fairly. Shift hours were subject to change at anytime, rotating 3 shifts left u with no work-life balance.

    Cons

    Gave you opportunity for experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should take more consideration towards employees opinions and take actions for employees. Also show more equal opportunity towards women.

Former Employee - Lab Tech II in Millsboro, DE

    I worked at Intervet

    Pros

Benefits were excellent, 8 - 9% company match for 401k
TON of paid time off, however there is no distinction between sick time and vacation time, 18 days during year 1, 23 days year 2, 28 days year 5, 33 days year 10, and 38 days year 20.
There is room for growth if you stay long enough.
Corporate jobs are rarely vacated, leading me to believe that they are pretty good jobs
They hold some fun functions throughout the year, summer party, Thanksgiving lunch
The business is closed for a week during Christmas and a week during Summer, although you have to use vacation time for this.

    Cons

The work was very menial, physical. A lot of scrubbing walls, ceilings, floors, then going back and sanitizing walls, ceilings, floors.
Dealing with high temps, high humidity environment at times
Changing clothes several times per day, working in bunnysuits (coveralls with hood and boots, face mask, two pair of gloves, safety glasses, basically no part of body uncovered)
Not a lot of use of my BS in biology, mostly physical labor.
High turnover rate in production area (where I worked)
After rumors about the Intervet being bought out, the company insisted that they were not for sale, then were bought several months later.
Minimum of 3-5 years before potential for promotion or major pay increase
Pay was slightly lower than other similar jobs in the area

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to working environments in production

Former Employee - Business Analyst in Wellington (New Zealand)

I worked at Intervet full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Low turnover rate. Good team. Good boss. Some training included, if you presented a good case. Excellent retirement benefits (they matched into two different retirement accounts in NZ).

    Cons

The cut non customer facing roles. Which really put a lot of extra stress on the employees that were still there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The cutting of non customer facing roles seemed shortsighted, and better suited to making a balance sheet look happy, rather than the happiness of employees that stayed behind.

I have been working at Intervet

    Pros

Great products, good pipeline. There is a real emphasis on the technical aspects of the product line and honest attempts at selling beyond price.

    Cons

Archaic processes and too much of an emphasis on traditional modes of selling and marketing. Oftentimes too much time is spent on irrelevant details instead of looking at the big picture.
