    Pros

    Intuit not only provides great tangible benefits to its employees, but the very culture exudes employee-centric values. The management at every level sets the tone of owning your own future but does everything they can to encourage, challenge, and support you.

    Cons

    There really aren't a ton of detractors except that it can appear to be difficult to advance. In some areas it seems like there can be little movement.

    Continue to hold people accountable at every level, bring out the best in everyone by helping individuals to see how they help carry the vision forward on a daily basis.

    Great company to work for; good values, great opportunity for growth, pays really well, offers performance-based incentives, fun people to work with

    Cons

    People who have been there a long time are not as experienced as you might think. Several managers didn't know as much about business operations as they should have for the types of roles they were in, or as much about leading teams as they should have. Customer service reps are taught by management and trainers to "fear" anything really technical. Not good for a tech company, even if it's at the Reno location. Lots of ambiguity at times. Not very efficient at times. The way some of the metrics are measured are a bit questionable, and can sometimes be unfair when it comes to performance bonus. Really talented, bright individuals who want the best for the company, and who are willing to innovate and make things better often are met with road blocks, and ultimately end up leaving or are let go (I saw this happen quite a few times). Kinda sad. As a result, growth and innovation is stunted, and things that should have been addressed years ago are still an issue now. Reno locations says they're trying to steer away from traditional call-center metrics, however your job in the end still depends on them-regardless of what they say.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    It should be a requirement that managers and management trainees learn business 101, and QUICKBOOKS! Managers need to approach technical stuff as not that big of a deal and recruit SMARTER more TECHNICAL people instead of teaching in-experienced non-technical people to be afraid of troubleshooting technical issues.

    Decent benefits for this region.

    Cons

    Middle management is the biggest weakness. A majority of the Sales Managers have no real world sales experience. The 'ol' boy' network is big time at play at the Reno. NV site. Sales Management acts high school at best when it comes to evaluations and promotions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Recently Intuit released a portion of the staff and had them rebid for their jobs. Great concept, however you brought the wrong leaders back! The very same sales manager that are in the network and are only looking to self promote. Clean house one more time and weed out the self promoting dead weight that has been in place for the past 10 years.

    Pros

    The benefits can't be beat. Great medical, ESPP, 401K and wellness program. Great co workers.

    Cons

    in the customer support role, things are very micromanaged.Everything is numbers driven. Management tries to be pro active, but not very effective. The company, as a whole, restructures every July (end of fiscal year). Results in many lay offs. Most recently 785 positions were affected. No one is irreplaceable, and you will be reminded of this.
    Be careful with your 'personal brand'. It will be used in reviews.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Managers really need to learn what the worker bees do. I think it is difficult to coach people when there is not an understanding as to what is required, Many of the managers did not do the job of the people they manage. Have never understood why so much talent is let go.

    They pay well and the overall compensation package is attractive.

    Cons

    I worked for Intuit for 5 years. They are good to their employees as long as they need them. But they are brutal when it comes to eliminating positions. If they decide you're not needed anymore, they will make up any excuse to get rid of you. I saw employees with 20 or 25 years of service being treated like dirt at the end. At a satellite office in Fallon, Nevada, employees had no idea the office was closing until they showed up for work on a Monday and the doors were locked. For a company that does so many things right, there are some areas where they are just awful.

    Pros

    So many positives were seen during my years at Intuit. The only reason I left was due to a decision to outsource my unit, which was probably a good choice. Intuit offers so much... good leadership, good potential, good intent in their markets, good employees, good training, good challenges... where does it stop?

    Cons

    About the only con is if you get a rotten or just mediocre manager, which can happen but is rare for Intuit. Burnout from the hard work is possible... be certain to take your time off. Otherwise, continue to have fun while working hard.
