I have been working at Intuit

    Pros

    Amazing benefits and great pay
Provides 1 week of paid time per year to focus on community work
CEO (Brad Smith) is smart, genuine, and provides clear direction for business
Diverse workforce; people are treated as equals regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, etc.
Customer feedback is highly regarded and used to drive decisions
Employees are treated with respect (with a few exceptions)

    Cons

Innovation and growth are near-impossible since BI support is stretched unbearably thin
Very few positions are filled from within - regardless of internal talent
Employees are rewarded or hired based on cronyism and the ability to generate PowerPoint presentations rather than on producing actual results
Work-life balance is preached, but not practiced
    Too many meetings

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use employee feedback to drive change, not just to take a pulse
Tools for career development need to be subsidized by actual career growth opportunities
Spend less money on travel and more money in BI
Reward and recognize employees based on results and job performance

    I worked at Intuit

    Pros

Good benefits, interesting work, depending on where you work some opportunity to share ideas for improvement.

    Cons

Management changes directions often which doesn't allow new ideas to stick. Lots of politics, the minute somebody in upper management targets you (with or without reason) watch out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask for input from the people on the front lines- they have great ideas and know what the customers want and need.

    Pros

Pay was okay. They provided lunch often.

    Cons

Middle management is rude and go out of their way to belittle staff same. Employees not determined upon the best stats, rather who lathers the supervisors with the most praise. Co-workers disconnect customers. Middle management is aware of agents dismissing customers yet, these people are rewarded because they make their supervisors look good. They monitor everything you including this web site to make themselves look great. Notice for every negative comment there is at least 2 or 3 that state how wonderful the company is. When in actuality many customers are dissatisfied because it takes 2 - 3 calls to get there issues resolved. It’s all about politics not the how well the job is performed!

I have been working at Intuit

    Pros

They treat employees with the highest respect! Senior leadership has an awesome vision and stays the course. Work-life balance is awesome at Intuit...Work-hard, play-hard is the way I think of Intuit. Titles mean nothing and senior leaders and managers are very easy to work with and talk to. Innovation is highly promoted and encourages.

    Cons

Due to their high respect for employees, it takes a while to remove non-performers. If you don't carve your career at Intuit, no one else will. There are very few progression paths at the upper Middle managment level. It is very difficult to see where you are compared to your peers and even who your peers are. They are very cryptic with jobs and roles so it is hard to tell what the next promotion for you is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing with regard to strategy and treatment of employees! I love being a part of Intuit it's caring, innovative and growing environment! Would love to see them solve the problem of paying for performance and making sure non-performers don't stick around forever. Also would love to see more structure in how people progress and get promoted. Some people just appear with a new title some days and others with outstanding reviews have to fight for their next position.

    I worked at Intuit

    Pros

Intuit offers great benefits and perks, such as 3 weeks vacation time after 1 year, great Health Insurance options, subsidized vending, gym stipend if your location doesn't have one on site, Internet stipend, etc. In addition, the work is challenging and exciting as one is always pressed to think of better ways or to be more customer focused. Fellow employees are bright, motivated and respectful co-workers. I no longer work there, yet almost once a month I start a sentence off "Well, at Intuit we..." as example of the way a world-class organization operates.

    Cons

Turnover is low, so there are not a lot of career advancement opportunities unless one is willing to move.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more areas for development so that even if there is no room for advancement currently, it is easier to move laterally to build new skills.

    I worked at Intuit

    Pros

Intuit has excellent benefits. They pay at or above market for similar work other places. They have a well-organized training department to ensure employees are skilled on their products. Very flexible hours for employees with special requirements.

    Cons

I worked as a customer service rep that was going through a management transition. One of the manager was extremely high maintenance and drove away some experienced employees by being aggressive and extremely discourteous. This manager was seen as a key person in the transition, so was protected from any repercussions from his actions. The morale of my department was shattered. Upper management knew of the problems but refused to remedy them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My department manager seemed paralyzed by the dramatics occurring in his department. He tried to be open and frank about the problems but failed to move to address any of them. Eventually the problem manager left the company, and only then did the department manager take steps to try to recover the morale of the team.

I have been working at Intuit

    Pros

The services Intuit provides are high quality and make the employees proud to be a part of their development. The benefits package is outstanding. Work life balance is respected. There are lots of diverse opportunities within the company. There are many female leaders - a big plus given the fact that men have ruled the roost for decades. Good work is recognized and rewarded - this feeds the desire to drive to even better results and increases employee engagement and motivation.

    Cons

Frequent changes in certain senior leader positions sometimes results in lack of solid, clear, and consistent direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep senior leaders in place long enough to establish clear, consistent, long-term direction. Offer more consistent internal formal learning and development opportunities. Instructor-led learning and development courses used to be more available than they are now. This impedes employees at all levels to learn soft skills that are critical in multiple roles.

    Pros

People here are respectful of each other. No yelling or cursing. Interesting products & we get to talk to our customers a lot (vs products that go out and you never find out how they get used).

    Cons

    One drawback: no on-site gym.
