I have been working at Invensys full-time

    Pros

Great work life balance and benefits. A wide variety of products and services offered is numerous market segments creates room to advance.

    Cons

Rapid expansion through acquisition has led to some loss of control of projects. Upper management is now very involved in recovery of projects which has led to a good bit of micro management.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to find a better way to assist project manager rather than micro manage them. The micro management and overall negative attitude toward PMs and engineers by management has just increased tensions and pressure.

    Pros

Benefits package was good. Work life 75% of the people were great to work with the other 25 not so. Office culture was relaxed unless your project was not making money.

    Cons

Company was always getting bought out and reorganizing

    Advice to Management

Advancement was tuff company wasn't growing.

I worked at Invensys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Almost everything was great until the company got acquired by Schneider Electric. The company has great benefits and great people to work with. Good job opportunities and room for growth.

    Cons

The software division has leadership problems. Too many issues with new software releases. The company operates in silos that don't communicate with each other. Only a few software products are "favorites" and get all the funding. Other products could be great if management would invest the proper resources. The bonus structure is dependent on overall company performance, which means you probably won't get much of a bonus. With the acquisition by Schneider Electric there is no telling where this will go.

    Advice to Management

Develop your software in America where there is a lot of real talented people. Sending your development offshore has produced a substandard product.

I have been working at Invensys full-time

    Pros

This company has a ton of great perks, great down-to-earth people, and management is top notch.

    Cons

The majority of the company is 50+ years. This is a pro in some regards, however things have been done the same way for decades in some instances and the company could certainly use some youth in the office. Also, with the recent acquisition by Schneider Electric, hopefully things don't get 'shaken up' in an unfavorable way.

    Advice to Management

With baby boomers headed out the door, it's an obvious choice to keep hiring bright young talent to take this company into the next generation.

I worked at Invensys full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a nice place to work, coworkers seemed nice. It was an 8-5 job with an hour for lunch, fairly stress free.

    Cons

If you get a full time job here, lots of travel is required. MES deployment happens all over the world, not just in the country or local region. It's not just a programming job, you have to do "go-lives" in other places. This can be viewed as a pro or con.

    Advice to Management

The head guy was really really nice. He actually interviewed me and got me to come out to Invensys in the first place. One of the managers was a little intimidating, though.

I worked at Invensys full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits were good, salaries were decent, I'd work there again if the opportunity arose.

    Cons

During my time at Invensys there were many reorganizations which unfortunately negatively impacted employee productivity and morale. Although it is a technology company the business unit I worked in seemed to be behind the times and not use these tools for success.
