I have been working at Inventive Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great working for a small technology company compared to the big ones where you get lost in the crowd. It is nice to get to work with the latest technology and although I can see for some that is a challenge they are not prepared to handle.

    Cons

Small company so everyone has to hold their own which can be tough at times.

    Advice to Management

Look to bring in people with more experience even if it costs more in the short-term.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Inventive Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Under some circumstances, was able to actually have an impact in schools with introducing multimedia where otherwise would not have been accessible Co-workers very smart and skilled (problems always required out of the box thinking to resolve) Hands on experience with SaaS during its infancy

    Cons

Used e-rate dollars to fund basically overpriced TV's to entertain kids at lunch in many instances Management was horrible at listening to employees Promised personal growth and advancement opportunities but never followed up Only paid minimum salary Removed comp time earned from travel Poorly built platform that did not scale Truly skilled people left quickly for better opportunities

    Advice to Management

Retire...you've done nothing worth noting and should leave the space immediately

I worked at Inventive Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked with great people but upper management was not smart and let them go.

    Cons

Low pay and also micro-managed. It was a bad situation when you have to ask for time off and you are asked "why"

    Advice to Management

You should have never gotten rid of the main crew that got the company off the ground. CEO's are great people but they did not care to listen to any of our opinions.

I worked at Inventive Technology as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Working with cutting edge technology

    Cons

Underfunded for the task at hand

    Advice to Management

Gain the funding & move forward

    Pros

Very laid back management, to the point where they don't care. Projects are typically assigned without oversight, and results are due on the deadline, without excuse.

    Cons

The management have no experience as managers. There is an overbearing amount of micromanagement for even mundane tasks. Many positions have "blackouts" on vacations, meaning you can only take vacations during certain weeks of the year; further compounded by a company policy forbidding vacations longer than 5 days.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend the management take a few business classes, and possibly anger management. There is no reason to treat employees as lower-class when they're the ones fixing all the problems for a meager wage.

    Pros

    1. I’ve had the privilege of working with high-quality and extremely smart co-workers. 2. The opportunity to deal with new and unique problems (most of which are highly preventable). 3. If you can handle the stress, the weekly disasters are entertaining.

    Cons

See all of the above in the Pros section. Basically, all of your great co-workers you get to know and rely on due their wealth of knowledge, end up leaving (they never stay long), or being terminated for finding solutions to painfully ridiculous problems, or for simply wanting to do something right. There is also a gut-wrenching feeling of guilt by compliance when the realization hits that you are contributing to an outrageously over-priced and broken product being spammed upon school districts across the nation (another wonderful example of tax waste and abuse). The company has lost their entire knowledge base, and despite a frantic flow of new-hires, the company cannot hire fast enough to replace those that are leaving.

    Advice to Management

For just once, drop the incredible arrogance and actually learn something from your employees (despite your view that they are a lower-caste section of society) who have solutions to problems. Do the right thing and stop robbing schools, stop ripping-off employees and build a product that works and can actually be used by schools.
