Over all a great place to work

Senior Systems Engineer (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsTechnology; Work Life balance; Knowledgeable staff; Training

ConsIT management was for the most part recruited in London UK… And brought to Houston to work. Most are on visas so they have to stay at company. When your salary reaches a certain level they force you out.

    Solid place to work

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Houston, TX

ProsGood benefits (insurance and vacation). Good mixture of management team members. Nice work environment. Free soft drinks. Various career options available.

ConsThe pay is not as good compared to similar job titles within the industry. A little top heavy on management.

Advice to Senior ManagementGreat company to work for if you are looking for good benefits, vacation, and an average salary. A good place to get your foot in the door.

    OK place to work.

    Senior Tech Representative (Former Employee)

ProsReasonable benefits and comfortable work environment. Worldwide presence in the financial services industry is helpful. Company has discontinued many products or services which were not strong suits.

ConsPersonal development program somewhat limited. Too many changes over the years has taken away familiarity of what company is about from the investing public.

Advice to Senior ManagementToo many changes make it hard for clients to know what company stands for. It is important to see what customers are looking for before additional changes are made.

Invesco; Downsizing and outsourcing while Senior Management enjoys the good life..

Systems Engineer Senior (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsHigher than average pay. Pleasant work environment. As long as a mediocre employee keeps his nose clean, he has a job for life.

ConsMany back office and I.T. jobs being outsourced to India. Talented staff find employment elsewhere due to job stagnation. The result is a company staffed by a majority of long term employees with no ambition/desire to grow just doing the minimum to collect a paycheck. The company has cancelled many inexpensive low-mid staff perks while Senior Management fly expensive Net Jets.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlay hardball and send mediocre employees packing. Drop the policy of requiring managers to provide justification why every vacant job position SHOULDN'T be outsourced to India. Cancel the companies NetJet contract and fly commercial. Restore the policy of requiring staff to rate their manager's performance.

    Performance is everything.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsYoung company and good people. Good benefits, excellent retirement and paid time off.

ConsPolitical games and in-fighting are bad; creating mistrust, a lack of information sharing and a stifling enviornment. Young company going through typical growing pains in transition. Middle management is young and energetic but lack experience. Seasoned grey hairs could really make a difference.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on investment performance. Everything else will follow. Branding and global reach efforts will never compensate for average/poor investment performance. Lower investment expenses; your not giving the company a chance.

    Great work/life balance, no pay

    Marketing (Former Employee) Houston, TX

Proswork life balance and low stress atmosphere.... 37.5 hour work weeks and 3 weeks vacation + 2 float holidays, 10 paid holidays, and 7 sick days starting on day one. Aim also has pretty good health benefits as well as 401k w/ 4% match and 6% MPP contribution each year. Also AIM likes to promote people from within.

Conssalaries are way below market, unless your an analyst or portfolio manager. Raises are minimal, I have never received more that a 1-2% cost of living increase. Not much job stability, there have been four layoffs during my short four year tenure.
