study leave is generous
got to take on responsibility early on in career, might not have been available elsewhere

Cons

Lack of opportunithy to move roles internally or move to other parts of the business
promotions generally based on short term business need and retention rather than genuine meritocracy.

“Career-crippling deadend but nice offices...”

Pros

Good clean new facilities
Good bonus and share offer
Job for life environment (if you like that sort of environment)

Cons

No career progression
No skilled technical IT people in software in the entire company
Management incompetent at all levels
Completely inadequate tools to do the job
15 -20 years behind the curve at least
Slow to adopt any new technologies

Advice to Senior Management

Hire technically sound people at management level to build and guide their own technical teams.
Do not hire branch staff for technical roles.
Fire the entire test team and never give it so much power that it currently wields.
