I have been working at Irving Burton Associates full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Leadership at IBA has a real interest in the well-being of employees and their families. Work / Life balance is encouraged and, although at the end of the day, this is a business, they truly care about you and will work to help you when needed. We have a comprehensive benefits package and because everyone is so friendly, work is made less stressful even during times of increasing workloads.

    Cons

This is a midsize company so career growth is limited but the company does work with employees to identify training opportunities.

    Pros

Pay was good as was the medical plan.

    Cons

Lumping sick time and vacation into a single pool is a poor model for the employee. Upper management seems to be cluless as to what line management is up to.

I have been working at Irving Burton Associates

    Pros

Team building events. Medium size so you can get to know Sr. Management easily. Fair compensation. Excellent professional development program. Excellent reputation with Gov't clients.

    Cons

Mostly contract positions. Not as large of a "bench" capability to shelter good employees between contracts. Not a place for entry level employees, normally only looking for experienced personel. The work environment on some contracts can be very hectic and stressful at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Identify and nuture your true star performers.

Former Employee - Technical Analyst in Virginia (South Africa)

I worked at Irving Burton Associates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Line employees (non-managers) are nice and want to do good work

    Cons

Management is disengaged and uninterested in happiness of employees. This company has virtually no processes and is far behind the times from a technological standpoint. Benefits are below standard, even for a small company, and micromanagement is the standard. Managers are afraid to say "no" to the customer. Employees working at the customer feel totally alienated from IBA management and other employees who work at the corporate/Skyline office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better screening of candidates for management positions to ensure they have not only the technical skills, but also the personality required to manage people.
