“Isis values creativity - as long as it fits in the box”
Former Employee – worked at Isis Pharmaceuticals full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Nice new building in Carlsbad. Above average compensation.
Cons – Business Development, Finance, and IT have a long history of high turnover and low morale. Isis is a small company, so there's little opportunity for learning new things. Isis values style over substance, so incompetent employees have a legitimate shot at success as long as they schmooze properly. If you're not politically savvy, you'll hit the ceiling quickly or be fired outright.
Advice to Senior Management – Look in the mirror and you'll find the reason for many of your problems.
Advice to BOD: it's time to refresh some VP talent.
