Pros
Fun and friendly work environment. Exciting work environment. Casinos are typically fast paced, creating an arcade type of atmosphere. Never a dull moment.
Cons
For the level of professionalism and customer service, higher hourly rates would draw individuals with the See Say Smile attitude that is necessary to bring our guests back time and again.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to keep all employees in the loop regarding future development plans. Don't lose sight of the fact that the desires of one is not necessarily the desires of all.
Pros
Benefits were decent, but in general the job sucks.
Cons
Upper management does everything they can do to kill business. They have no idea how to "build" loyal guests or maintain good help. The company is a joke. They have short term vision only. Their abilities to manage a company is very apparent in their stock price. Most of the problems could be solved if you just cut the top level management and let the place run itself. Upper management looks out for number one and as long as they are getting paid, they could care less about the front line staff. Then they wonder why they can't find good help.
YOU CAN"T TEACH COMMON SENSE!!!!
Advice to Senior Management
Take some business courses. "Accounting Management" is one of the worst ways to run a business. You worry about cutting costs and it just raises them in the long term through training etc. Do you even have a long term vision? I am not talking about the false promises either.
Pros
Flexible Schedule, Fun and Exciting Atmosphere, Safe place to work, great place for college student s that needs to make a good income while in attending school. Not a stressful place to work, just do your job and everything will be fine.
Cons
Food not the greatest, with the casino opening in 2008, it shows it was built great, the management shows favoritism,
Pros
Really nice people to work with. Not too many egos or that much in-fighting to deal with. Salary was OK but got max bonuses regularly. Benefits are OK in a time when most people get crappy benefits.
Cons
Company is heavily in debt which inhibits its ability to manuever swiftly. Lots of downtrodden properties in competitive markets which makes for very little upside. Corporate is very top heavy.
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out a way to get rid of extra baggage, whether we're talking about the debt, the dead weight staff, or the properties with no upside. Or at the very least align your vision such that you invest heavily in achieving properties and just milk the underperforming ones for all their worth until you can dispose of them. It seems like the other way around now where under performing properties get rebranded (Caruthersville) and properties where there is upside get what... another layer of management (Lake Charles)?
Pros
It's a small place so most everyone knows everyone else, if you can't be at home with family, it's the next best thing
Cons
in such a small place, there are alot of clicks, if you don't belong to one, then you feel a little out of place
Advice to Senior Management
I think that the management needs to try to get to know the employees of this casino, not just nod their head when crossing, be a little more personable
Pros
friendly employees, meet new people, no lay-offs, benefits, on-site wellness clinic, easy transfer within the company, stability
Cons
lack of communication, whats good for management isnt good for hourly employees, management uses their title and takes things for granted
Advice to Senior Management
communication, communication, communication, etc..............
Pros
The Isle definately rate at the top when it comes to self wellness by furnishing an on-site wellness clinic for team members and family, but that too hurts the company due to the fact a team member can clain sick or injured and can very quickly receive 3 days off at the company's expense
Cons
I have seen many come and go starting with lower level all the way to director levels, so I would have to say the wage levels do not meet up with the work performance. If the salary is lower then the job expectation how do you expect to get talented individuals to perform above average work?
Advice to Senior Management
I understand reducing the over head but at least hire individuals who know something about the department they are over seeing and one director overseeing multiply departments is not cost effective it truely almost like the surplus money...it only last so long and a band-aid soon will fall off.
Pros
Some of the good of the isle is that is a good start for a career and after 3-5 years there (about the time that they will lay you off) you can leave for another company at a more competitive wage. They do have a nice benefit package.
Cons
Promises of Major future projects only to be turned into long forgotten dreams and stuck with a patchwork casino that will definitely not make it when the new Margaritaville and CanCan open.
Working with a shoestring budget.
Having to lay people off that make min wage to make a budget when Sr Mgmt pulls in $250k a year(not including their Crazy Bonuses).
Advice to Senior Management
Hire new talent and fire yourselves. There is no middle management at the Isle because they laid them all off.
Pros
Well, at least I do get insurance and sick time...other than that not much good to report. We need a morale booster!
Cons
About all I get is insurance and sick time, unless you want to count the ulcer! Morale around here is very low!
Advice to Senior Management
Showing up in the department might be nice. You cannot expect problems to just fix themselves. You have to put a lot of consistent effort into it!
Pros
Good wage, fun atmosphere, you can shoot the crap with players and customers...lots of games to learn so you have a variety of jobs/games you get to play or "host."
Cons
Management is TERRIBLE, to be quite frank. Promotions are not given to the correct people, management hates people that WANT to work that ACTUALLY WANT TO BE THERE. They give bad reviews to those that don't want to go home early and actually want to work their full shift. It's ridiculous.
Advice to Senior Management
Let people that actually WANT to work and want to stay for their full 8 hour shift, work and stay. The whiners and complainers that don't want to stay can either drop down to part-time or can just go home. Also, offer more positive feed back to your dealers. The way you handle and deal with your employees is bogus and really needs to be addressed if you want people to stay.
