I worked at Israel Discount Bank of New York full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some very good wokers throughout other departments at the bank who really care and have spent years working for the bank.

    Cons

Management out of touch with workers who actually understand the day to day issues impacting the bank. Some department heads micro manage their departments even though they have very reliable and compedent managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's time to listen to the people who work very hard and not just to senior people at the bank.

I worked at Israel Discount Bank of New York full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good medical benefits, 401k plan, great employees

    Cons

Department was always under pressure and performed with the least amount of errors throughout the bank. Bank needs completely think things through, before eliminating an employees position without thinking what dilemma they are putting on the department, not to say what will happen to an employee who has given his dedication and loyalty to the organization without giving them the consideration and place them in another position in order to finish out their full Retirement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need leaders that understand the complete job functions their employees are performing on day to day and need to pitch in when department is understaffed. Need department Management to be able to listen to their workers and not continuously threatening them their positions. Overall, needs better leadership and management to be involved, rather then sit back and take no approach. Finally employees need extensive training to perform their functions with precise skills.

    Pros

Loved the work atmosphere and the management was quite fantastic. The work paid $15 which for an internship entering college is quite great.

    Cons

In compliance, things can get quite boring. You're essentially typing in the same things over and over into a computer but what do you expect as an intern? Beats the heck out of being unpaid!
