I worked at Ivanhoe Cambridge full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good medical benefits, vacation days, community involvement, family sick days

    Cons

"Too many chiefs and not enough Indians over the last several years"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start treating your employees as family members again. Don't fire your employees on Fridays. Having a degree shouldn't matter as long as the employee knows him or her "stuff" Sad that the company is so focused in hiring mostly in Montreal and getting rid of all other regional staff

I worked at Ivanhoe Cambridge full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great experience. Loved the training and the opportunities. HR was fantastic and so were their policies. They have a tele commuting policy - work from home every so often, as long as the work gets done - manager and HR are fine with that. No one micro manages. One of the best employers on the Prairies.

    Cons

Lots of change, which isn't all bad

I worked at Ivanhoe Cambridge full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Salary
Vacation days (15 days the first year, plus 5 TGIF days)
    Great Benefits.
You can be an alcoholic/drug user, come in 2 times a week, and still keep your job!
You can work from home, as long as your boss doesn't tell HR.

    Cons

Forced yearly travel when it could easily be streamed online.
Too many forced functions to attend, even if you are in accounting.
H/R is insulting and doesn't care about "the little guy".
A puckered kissed, and screwing your boss will get you advancement.
Zero training. Train yourself, unless it's useless, and then they spend a whole day on b.s. training.
If you're management, the rules do not apply to you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the little man. They see more, and will be honest with what is happening in your company.

I have been working at Ivanhoe Cambridge full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

This company cares deeply about their employees. They treat all with respect and it is obvious from the top down that they consider their employees as their most valuable asset. They are constantly offering new training, have an award winning customer service program that all employees are required to take twice a year. Even part time employees who only work 20 hours a week are rewarded with benefits, including a pension plan and a bonus if the company does well. Communication is top notch.

    Cons

I cannot think of anything that would make me want to leave this company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you do because it is certainly working well

I have been working at Ivanhoe Cambridge full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

World-class portfolio. Some very talented individuals. Great building to work in (Mtl).

    Cons

    Neverending restructurings and low morale.

Lack of direction and ability to make decisions results in no game plan and no actions. Watch market opportunities go by while senior management sits on the sidelines undecisively.

    Pros

Great benefits and work life balance.
The company is international so there is always the possibility to relocate to a different city.

    Cons

Difficult to move up within the company due to limited open positions (low turnover is a good thing though).

Former Contractor - Guest Services Supervisor in Nanaimo, BC (Canada)
Former Contractor - Guest Services Supervisor in Nanaimo, BC (Canada)

I worked at Ivanhoe Cambridge as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

The company has an excellent work/life balance policy in place. The company is also one of the top 50 best employers in Canada and this made working with my co workers so easy as they were all very happy with their work and the company.

    Cons

I was on a contract so there were no benefits and since I was replacing the person on a maternity leave, they should allow their temp employees to participate in events and functions that a permanent employee would attend.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please keep up the great positive work that you do for the company and for the communities you do business in.
