    Pros

    Good initial pay if negotiated well. Managers can be fooled if you play smart with them. US travel almost certain max period of 3 weeks. Lot of holidays due to bands. small company. known well in industory

    Cons

    Managers shout on employees. Favorism is prevalent. You got to be favorite of managers to grow rather perform well. Unclear performance appraisal criteria. Pitiful rewards and salaries. False promises to keep you around. Typical closed mindset from people who definitely have not seen the industry, have been working in small local companies. no career growth or just for the name sake. Environment does not expose much about the skills respected by industry. the domain changes so much that you do not get chance to know anything but learn "complete by EoB". You would surely notice lack of cash spending on employee development, basic office facilities. No work from home policy. You are expected to work very long hours and on weekends. Add to all this it's at Kolkata. My suggestion dont even think about it working here. mostly weak leaders and managers. no industry standard practices. feels like primitive way of working, never clear about why someone gets rewards, promotion etc. mostly those are people near to managers. no transparency. dont work here unless you are shrewd politician

    Advice to Management

    check the industry pay, policies, have transparency with genuine promises than false promises to keep people around. have parallel path of taking feedback regularly from everyone and not just few people

    Pros

    Leading edge technology with current and rich development environment. Open communication between departments. Very flexible work hours. Very good benefits.

    Cons

    High expectations to work long hours within development and QA engineering. Teams split across international sites makes it difficult to communicate.

    Advice to Management

    Consider ways to reduce stress to employees, by encouraging a balance between work, family and community. The seven core values need to be lived up to.

    Pros

    Pension is good. Pay can be good if you negotiate well in the beginning but don't expect pay rises

    Cons

    Bullying, dishonest management always looking to screw the employee. only route to progression is through brown nosing and stabbing colleagues in the back. Very long hours for no reward. Unachievable targets set to reduce commission payouts. Did I mention the Bullying?? If you manage to negotiate a good wage when you get the job that will be held against you, don't expect pay rises and you will always feel like you living with the sword of Damocles over your head. Management by fear approach by the VP of Sales, supported by the senior US management as well as the UK Sales manager. Managers aren't managers they are yes men, thugs and henchmen for the VP of Sales. A Truly Toxic and Hostile environment to work in.

    Advice to Management

    Value you your people they will work better for you if you respect them and stop the bulling. Your staff is demoralized, demotivated and desperate. Ixia's core values should apply to the Senior management MORE than to the employees, lead by example, be fair and decent. A fish rots from the head

    Pros

    The company is profitable but off the backs of its employees. It has remained competitive but through cut throat management tactics. Shareholders love to invest in this type of company.

    Cons

    This is one of those companies where the employees are slave driven like pack mules and expected to put in massive overtime. The shareholders are more important than the employees, and financial savings (through outsourcing eg) is preferred over product quality. The lack of project communication is unnerving, and there is no five year plan, only reactive decisions to customer whims.

    Advice to Management

    Stop treating employees like barcoded commodities. Hire managers who can inspire employees, not just track their time and effort. Encourage work-life balance.

    Pros

    Bright and talented coworkers. Most of them would be nice to hang out with, if they weren't always so depressed about this place.

    Cons

    This might take some time i) No respect for employees as persons ii) No honesty in communication with the team iii) No transparency in management iv) No respect for work-life balance v) No long term planning - shifting "long term plans" every few days vi) Terrible competition amongst groups to switch the blame to each other vii) Constant pressure year round

    Pros

    1) Salary and benefits are on-par or maybe a bit more than industry standard. 2) There are quite a few really smart people.

    Cons

    1) Absolutely no long term vision 2) Complete lack of respect to employee's preferences. You have to work on whichever module you are asked to, without any consideration provided to your interests. 3) Constant pressure and culture of patching up solutions in a hacky way. People are discouraged to think holistically and are pushed constantly to deliver private fixes within a few hours. Groups just tend to blame each other and push issues around because of this. 4) Resources are treated like manual laborers. Upper management cares only about people count and assumes that 'n' number of people will bring down the total work duration by a factor of 'n'. 5) Management is actually happy to lose developers in US so that they can backfill with more resources in India or Romania.

    Advice to Management

    Please do not micro-manage and come up with realistic plans which are good for the long term. Or else you can see that the employee retention rate will drastically go down.
