    Pros

Corporate desire to lead the industry in delivering new products

    Cons

    Excessive working hours,
    Below average wages,
    Substandard bonuses,
    Lack of material support,
    Lack of long term vision,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lower YOUR standards of living and share the wealth with the people that actually generate the ideas and deliver the products. <B>Your current employees are your competitors best future assets.<\B> Stop with the slave ship mentality and support your people at the bottom. EVERY employee deserves a slice of the pie, not just the elite few in the executive suite.

    Pros

    Growth of company, future earnings.

    Cons

Long drawn out process with little direction. Senior IT management will not admit they have no direction and don't know how to make decisions because they lack experience. IT management has very little power since the business people make IT decisions.Long drawn out process with little direction. Pros

    smart people to work with
    you will learn multi tasking
Management promotes learning, they will set aside separate time for you to learn a technology etc
It all depends what team, what manager you are under. You might get lucky you might not.

    Cons

Micromanagement environment, tasks sent out every day, status reports expected at end of day. They will tell you how to do something, when sometimes you know better. Kills your creativity.

emphasys on numbers, not quality. Some managers care about the number of bugs closed, thats all.

Slave driving and no appreciation for hard work. If you do 100% the following week expectation will be set to 110%, if you dont deliver the 110% you are below expectation, if you do the following week it will be 120%. If you want to work there forget about balance. Everyone works at least 10 hours/day, this is if you mutlitask and take advantage of every minute.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop micro management, it kills creativity, and makes it not a pleasant place to work

    I worked at Ixia

    Pros

    (1) Good exposure to learn new technologies, esp. related to networking

    Cons

    (1) Pathetic management
    (2) Extreme work pressure. Fequent calls by mgmt. to come to office even during weekends.
    (3) Bias towards favoured employees is rampant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    (1) Needs to be completely changed. People with proper management track record should be brought in to manage the show.

I have been working at Ixia

    Pros

good pay. some flexibility in working from home. people with good technical knowledge abound

    Cons

main focus of each group, as directed by upper management, is to blame each other. everyne spends a lot of time on this. lot of effort is put into how bugs can be moved to other groups just so that at the end of the week, your team's numbers look good.
management follows an approach of lying about everything to people, and they actually think people believe them. Dishonesty seems to be the main tool used to manage people. management seems to want you to quit so that they can hire more people in cheaper countries. Probably this is why they treat employees very very badly, and have no qualms about messing with your personal time. In fact, you dont have "personal time". It all belongs to Ixia.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

please try being a little more honest with us. might make a difference. though it might not come naturally for most of you.

    Pros

Bright and talented coworkers. Most of them would be nice to hang out with, if they weren't always so depressed about this place.

    Cons

    This might take some time
    i) No respect for employees as persons
ii) No honesty in communication with the team
    iii) No transparency in management
iv) No respect for work-life balance
    v) No long term planning - shifting "long term plans" every few days
vi) Terrible competition amongst groups to switch the blame to each other
    vii) Constant pressure year round

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    none whatsover.

    I worked at Ixia

    Pros

The company is profitable but off the backs of its employees. It has remained competitive but through cut throat management tactics. Shareholders love to invest in this type of company.

    Cons

This is one of those companies where the employees are slave driven like pack mules and expected to put in massive overtime. The shareholders are more important than the employees, and financial savings (through outsourcing eg) is preferred over product quality. The lack of project communication is unnerving, and there is no five year plan, only reactive decisions to customer whims.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating employees like barcoded commodities. Hire managers who can inspire employees, not just track their time and effort. Encourage work-life balance.

I have been working at Ixia

    Pros

    Pension is good.
Pay can be good if you negotiate well in the beginning but don't expect pay rises

    Cons

Bullying, dishonest management always looking to screw the employee. only route to progression is through brown nosing and stabbing colleagues in the back. Very long hours for no reward. Unachievable targets set to reduce commission payouts. Did I mention the Bullying??
If you manage to negotiate a good wage when you get the job that will be held against you, don't expect pay rises and you will always feel like you living with the sword of Damocles over your head.
Management by fear approach by the VP of Sales, supported by the senior US management as well as the UK Sales manager. Managers aren't managers they are yes men, thugs and henchmen for the VP of Sales. A Truly Toxic and Hostile environment to work in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value you your people they will work better for you if you respect them and stop the bulling. Your staff is demoralized, demotivated and desperate. Ixia's core values should apply to the Senior management MORE than to the employees, lead by example, be fair and decent.

I have been working at Ixia

    Pros

Good initial pay if negotiated well. Managers can be fooled if you play smart with them. US travel almost certain max period of 3 weeks. Lot of holidays due to bands. small company. known well in industory

    Cons

Managers shout on employees. Favorism is prevalent. You got to be favorite of managers to grow rather perform well. Unclear performance appraisal criteria. Pitiful rewards and salaries. False promises to keep you around. Typical closed mindset from people who definitely have not seen the industry, have been working in small local companies. no career growth or just for the name sake. Environment does not expose much about the skills respected by industry. the domain changes so much that you do not get chance to know anything but learn "complete by EoB". You would surely notice lack of cash spending on employee development, basic office facilities. No work from home policy. You are expected to work very long hours and on weekends. Add to all this it's at Kolkata. My suggestion dont even think about it working here. mostly weak leaders and managers. no industry standard practices. feels like primitive way of working, never clear about why someone gets rewards, promotion etc. mostly those are people near to managers. no transparency. dont work here unless you are shrewd politician

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

check the industry pay, policies, have transparency with genuine promises than false promises to keep people around. have parallel path of taking feedback regularly from everyone and not just few people

I worked at Ixia full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Bought growing companies (Anue and Breakingpoint) in Austin two years ago as part of an expansion plan. Acquired large Austin presence and strong sales, engineering and management teams through these acquisitions.

    Cons

Company pumped the stock up based on rosy projections last year just before heavy selling of shares by senior execs. Stock then crashed more than 50% leaving stock options and ESPP shares underwater. ~100 people were laid off last week. Talented employees who weren't laid off are leaving. Not a pretty picture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Firing the CFO was a good start, but more housecleaning of the "old guard" is needed. Embrace/promote the talent gained through acquisitions that is still at the company. Even if they're not in Calabasas. The world doesnt' need to revolve around Calabasas.
