I worked at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than a year
Pros – People are great to work with. The other managers I worked with have been easy going and willing to help one another out. The regional managers are also very good to work for.Pay is pretty good, especially for those coming out of college. Opportunity to see various types of shipping operations. You will defiantly learn a lot very quickly.
Cons – Long hours and lots of stress. But this varies depending on where you work at. Some accounts have one person managing them while others have multiple. The stress level also varies depending on where you work.
Advice to Senior Management – The workload for some is a little much, especially on the accounts with one manager.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Management is willing to take chances on you, allow you to try new things to grow and advance. Fast career progression if you are hard working and talented
Cons – Overall, compensation is very competitive, but sometimes people are confused that a large portion of that is in the bonus system. The industry can be slowed down during hard economic times, though the diverse business units help to hedge against it.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Pay is not so bad for the work you do.
Cons – Very much like high school, everyone is in their little groups and if you are not in a group, you are not included. Also, if you are one minute late they will use that as an excuse to say you have poor job performance. My significant other's care broke down when it was 12 degrees outside, I asked my manager if I could go and pick them up or if I needed to call around and find someone else and was told my leaving would be fine but would cost me some PTO. I come back and am immediately ushered into a room and written up for taking time off (1 hour) without a 72 hour notice.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn to respect your employees.

Pros – Good people, who are passionate about what they do. Knowledgeable. Big players in the logistics sphere.
Cons – Everyone I talk to asks me if I'm a truck driver when I tell them I work at JB Hunt. I'm not a truck driver.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Large corporation which still has a small company environment
Cons – HR rules such as hourly having to give 72 hours notice for being sick should be reviewed.
Most managers encourage employees seeking transfers to advance their careers.
Advice to Senior Management – Review the general HR environment. HR management does not support employees or management; but, seem to make up their own rules and policies. Believe most of the senior HR management got there just because they were there at the time.

Advice to Senior Management – Learn to communicate amongst each other

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than a year
Pros – Team environment, individual growth & access to senior management. opportunities to develop and grow.
Cons – demanding job on time and being on call especially with lower end compensation, tendency to nickle and dime on compensation. Business units still quite silo'd, and within the same division lots of internal strife due to budget restraints.
Advice to Senior Management – Trust your people, seek to develop current employees while bringing in the right people from outside to add what we lack.
Ensure that operations within brokerage are respected and treated equally to salesmen. When you get good operations teams ensure you are willing to compensate for similar levels to market for industry and similar job responsibilities in other industries

I have been working at J.B. Hunt for more than a year
Pros – Excellent safety program, dayshift hours. Very Structured work environment, web based computer system is simple to undserstand.
Cons – One-word: Micro management. If you are mechanic, you will be yelled at for taking too long on a job. You won't go a week without the manager threatening to fire you if your time numbers are not good enough. If the manager or supervisor does not like how you are doing a job, they will stop you and try to get you to do it their way, all while yelling at you and insulting you. They really like to "crack the whip" at technicians and partsman. No matter how good you are, it is never enough for them. Management and Supervisors do not follow company policy on training.
Advice to Senior Management – Get rid of unrealistic performance goals for you shop and just look at overall performance.
