    Pros

Jb hunt is a Very dependable company, the pay is good, its always busy, and jb hunt is a leader in the trucking industry.

    Cons

The heath benifits offered at jb hunt are horribly expensive, around 175 dollars a week for family medical, and because it's a ppo you will get a bill in the mail every time you see the doctor into the deductible is met.

    Advice to Management

Make heath benifits a benifit and not a large expense for your employees. Saia trucking pays for employees heath care benifits after 10yrs of service,I think that would work great at jb hunt.

    Pros

its a paycheck though its not consistent on money earned

    Cons

activity based pay so if there is anything wrong with it you don't get paid and that could be for hours worked , they say safety first but thats just to cover their butt they put you in very very unsafe working conditions and management des not know how to support you on the job because they have never done the job.

    Advice to Management

come out and do the job learner what your say is so easy ...is not easy

    Pros

The pay is good even when it's slow. Easy to make $1000/week for a 5 day work week. You keep an activity sheet and you calculate your pay at the end of everyday. it averages $220/day if you're willing to put in 12 hours a day. Management is good. Definitely a friendly atmosphere. Really lenient on changing shifts or needing days off. Generally a good company to work for if you're a decent, hard worker.

    Cons

Benefits are very expensive. They assign you a truck but you share it and sometimes they aren't done with their shift when it's time for yours so you have to walk the terminal searching for a loaner for the day (doesn't sound bad but it's annoying when you're in a hurry), you WILL start offun graveyard. Everything JB Hunt does is based off seniority so all the good shifts go to the drivers who have been there for years. I've met people that have been there for 5 years and are still on the graveyard Shift. The seniority thing also gets annoying because if you request a day off a couple weeks in advance but if someone who has been there longer than you requests the same day they won't give it to you. LONG HOURS TO MAKE GOOD MONEY. 14 hours a day is not uncommon to make $ 200.

    Advice to Management

Petter pay packages so we don't have to burn ourselves out working 12-14 hours a day. Cheaper benefits would be nice too $160/week for a family is outrageous.

    Pros

*Company is aware of it's culture and works to improve it.
    *Work-life balance is respected.
    *Well defined career progression.
    *Company is stable and healthy.

    Cons

    *IT teams are extremely siloed.
*Total compensation relies on bonus to be competitive.
*Project management varies wildly between managers - doesn't seem to be any corporate standards.
*Upper management is pretty mysterious - not sure what they do.
*Company culture is actively against being a 'technology company' - views technology more as a cost of doing business than part of the business.
*Vacation policy is pretty harsh, have to work 7 years before getting the 3rd week off.

    Advice to Management

Wanted to clear something up - I would recommend working at Hunt to somebody fresh out of college, but I likely would not recommend it to a more experienced developer. The company seems somewhat aware of the fact that its best selling point to prospective employees in the area is that it isn't Walmart or Tyson, which I mean both positively and negatively.

I was pretty vaguely aware of what my manager's boss did day to day, but beyond that it was only smoke and mirrors. We heard more from business leadership than IT leadership.

    Pros

Consistent miles and pay. Dedicated route.

    Cons

Winter weather, unrealistic DM. No vacation pay. No sick days.

    Advice to Management

Go out for a week or more on a variety of real loads, not just a ride along around the yard.
