J. C. Penney Company Reviews
-
Pros
I have worked at many JCP stores across the country and every store made me feel welcome. It was almost a family environment. There are many long term associates that empower that family atmosphere.
The pay scale for management associates was very good.Cons
The district manager of the last store I worked at always looked outside the company for filling positions. There were many qualified management associates that excelled at their current job who should have been interviewed and considered for the open position.
The company's current stance on "You must be relocatable to be considered for promotion".Advice to Senior Management
Use the talent within your stores for advancement and do not be so eager to always bring in outsiders for positions within the stores hierarchy. An outside candidate for corporate positions may be worthwhile, it brought in a welcome change to the merchandise mix in many areas of the store.
