Pros
20% discount
It was easy to get to and close to home
You got in and got out
Cons
Management sucked
everyone talks about everyone
just ridiculous
Advice to Senior Management
be nicer.
Pros
Fair pay for managers and OK pay for the people on the floor.
Cons
Working nights, holidays and weekends.
Advice to Senior Management
Look at people for their skills and forget the poliics that usually get people promoted.
Pros
Good work life balance
Good store discount program
Nice that the company (department) encourages you to participate in volunteer activities
Starbucks on site
Cons
Current I.T. Sr Leadership team (Directors and up) are more into kingdom building rather that working together as one team.
Mid year and End of year calibration process is a popular contest not a true attempt at identifing top talent
Advice to Senior Management
Communcate with the company and quit thinking you are Apple and trying to keep secerts until a big media launch. This internal atmosphere breads distrust and apathy rather than pride or comment.
Pros
Good name recognition.
Employee discount.
Not too cut throat compared to other commission jobs.
Nice jewelry for low prices.
Cons
The pay for a commission job is very low, you could never live on this job alone.
The customers are... sorry to say this... lower class and extremely rude.
The job has a huge amount of expectations and responsibilities... counting diamonds and solving issues with that, handling repairs, productivity and care plan quotas, changing batteries and fixing links on watches... and more.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't be cheap with commission salespeople.
Pros
Great people
Fun job
Benefits for part time empoyees
Cons
Low paying with small raises
Advice to Senior Management

Pros
Great people to work with and for, solid company to work with and for, decent benefits. I've worked at other retailers, JCP best by far.
Cons
There really is not too many downsides, sure, the hours at holiday are long, but they are everywhere in the industry. Over all if you are lucky enough to have a great manager it is a really good place to work.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work. Chill a little...I know this is a busy time of the year, but seriously keep up the realness!
Pros
Hours are typically steady, benefits offered to full and part time employees, company supports charitable organizations, flexible scheduling, as well as friendly management.
Cons
Getting 2 credit applications a week is difficult for some of us (however not yet have I seen anyone terminated for it), topic get hounded about it sometimes constantly, things can get stressful during slower times when hours are cut.
Advice to Senior Management
So far so good. I feel as though my voice is always heard although I do wish that you would be more consistent in the way you enforce the dress code, if I can't wear my piercings I don't hi k its fair anyone else should. Also, mini skirts in a professional environment? Come on, give me a break and slap someone on the wrist already.
Pros
Its a job, if your desperate
Cons
Too many problems. Main problem is that they expect you to be VERY flexible BUT they do not care if you need a day off or two. I have been 100% flexible with open availability since I started, once when a situation came up I managed to get half a day off before I got my schedule for an upcoming week for an emergency.
Now for the month of Feb (AFTER the busy holiday season) I put in a request over a month ago and in case again recently to request a couple days off for a personal emergency YET they put me in for those same dates! I have heard from other employees that they are being rejected for any time off, even a day to do something they need to do.
Problem one- JCPENNEY ARE NOT FLEXIBLE
Problem two- THEY ARE PAYING MINIMUM WAGE (I HAVE 5 YEARS REAL WORK EXPERIENCE PLUS A COLLEGE DEGREE)- this becomes more of a problem from the way they treat us like slaves, like we should not dare ask for some time off after the holidays?
This is the tip of the iceberg for me, paying in crumbs AND expecting 100% open availability whilst refusing everyone any time off in month of Feb?
Advice to Senior Management
Maybe Ron Johnson needs to concentrate a little bit on the actual employees and encourage managers to be more fair when it comes to people asking for time off especially for personal emergencies etc. Most of the customers are the actual employees themselves and through recommendations. I do not think I will be shopping at JCPenney anymore!
Pros
close to home. 20% discount. as far as lowly retail work is concerned, it is probably better than most out there.
Cons
Long term old bag managers are toxic to the store. Industrial Revolution is over. Fire them! New air please!
Advice to Senior Management
Delegate more projects to those of us who are serious about working there. Or are you threatened by us?
Pros
Really nice environment and friendly staff
Cons
no recognition, you receive no feedback
Advice to Senior Management
They do not care as long as they get their money they are fine.
