Pros
Hours are typically steady, benefits offered to full and part time employees, company supports charitable organizations, flexible scheduling, as well as friendly management.
Cons
Getting 2 credit applications a week is difficult for some of us (however not yet have I seen anyone terminated for it), topic get hounded about it sometimes constantly, things can get stressful during slower times when hours are cut.
Advice to Senior Management
So far so good. I feel as though my voice is always heard although I do wish that you would be more consistent in the way you enforce the dress code, if I can't wear my piercings I don't hi k its fair anyone else should. Also, mini skirts in a professional environment? Come on, give me a break and slap someone on the wrist already.
Pros
Its a job, if your desperate
Cons
Too many problems. Main problem is that they expect you to be VERY flexible BUT they do not care if you need a day off or two. I have been 100% flexible with open availability since I started, once when a situation came up I managed to get half a day off before I got my schedule for an upcoming week for an emergency.
Now for the month of Feb (AFTER the busy holiday season) I put in a request over a month ago and in case again recently to request a couple days off for a personal emergency YET they put me in for those same dates! I have heard from other employees that they are being rejected for any time off, even a day to do something they need to do.
Problem one- JCPENNEY ARE NOT FLEXIBLE
Problem two- THEY ARE PAYING MINIMUM WAGE (I HAVE 5 YEARS REAL WORK EXPERIENCE PLUS A COLLEGE DEGREE)- this becomes more of a problem from the way they treat us like slaves, like we should not dare ask for some time off after the holidays?
This is the tip of the iceberg for me, paying in crumbs AND expecting 100% open availability whilst refusing everyone any time off in month of Feb?
Advice to Senior Management
Maybe Ron Johnson needs to concentrate a little bit on the actual employees and encourage managers to be more fair when it comes to people asking for time off especially for personal emergencies etc. Most of the customers are the actual employees themselves and through recommendations. I do not think I will be shopping at JCPenney anymore!
Pros
close to home. 20% discount. as far as lowly retail work is concerned, it is probably better than most out there.
Cons
Long term old bag managers are toxic to the store. Industrial Revolution is over. Fire them! New air please!
Advice to Senior Management
Delegate more projects to those of us who are serious about working there. Or are you threatened by us?
Pros
Really nice environment and friendly staff
Cons
no recognition, you receive no feedback
Advice to Senior Management
They do not care as long as they get their money they are fine.
Pros
Great culture and fun work environment. Lots of amenities at the Home Office.
Cons
Salaries are not competitive and career advancement takes a long time. Size of company and too many layers of management make it hard to implement change.
Pros
I had an amazing store manager as a mentor. He helped me learn and grow in the company.
Cons
The pay and benefits are pretty lousy.
Pros
I worked with a great, friendly team of employees, the job was never too boring, and the management in the store respected the team.
Cons
There wasn't the best communication between management and employees. It also didn't have the best pay as my old job I was making quite more for doing less.
Advice to Senior Management
Some advice is that the management should really focus on getting to know their employees and finding the best way to communicate with them.
Pros
Relationship building, cross-training, training classes available
Cons
unclear career path, too many structure changes, too little advancement opportunites
Advice to Senior Management
Be honest and clear about objectives. Value your people. Find the right people for the job, especially managers. Make them take management and leadership training before people have to report to them. Understand and recognize work/life balance.
Pros
Good people overall, you treated fairly by management overall
Cons
Directives from corporate office are idiotic and there is almost no chance of promotion, health insurance leaves a lot to be desired
Pros
flexible schedules, possible advancement, friendly enviornment.
Cons
the pay sucks, they over work you,
Advice to Senior Management
they suck
