Pros
JC Penny's is a great place to work for teens whom just want a little cash, it also could be a good first job also. Managment is pretty good and they do not mind working around your schedule if need be.
Cons
The pay is terrible! Use JC Penney's could really just be a second job for gas money alone...but if you are trying to pay for an apartment or a house alone, obviously this would not be the place to work.
Advice to Senior Management
If you don't want turn over, I would REALLY suggest paying employees a bit more money.
Pros
The best reasons to work at the home office are friendly co-workers, great location, nice corporate office, good compensation, and lots of amenities within the home office.
Cons
It can be hard for non-management associates to advance. Some areas do not promote a creative atmosphere. Associates are constantly being moved to new areas without being asked.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote from within more (for non-management associates). Ask associates what areas they want to work in, instead of just moving then without acknowledging their area of expertise.
Pros
Good pay, respect of schedules, good learning experience for customer service, team work from most employees, fairly easy dress code to follow.
Cons
Disorganized management, little respect for employees, too high of expectations, bad communication, too must leniency for associates who do not do their job, almost every manager is rude, training is not efficient for working on the floor.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers need to have more respect for associates, there is too much communication between management as well. There are things associates are not supposed to do and some managers forbid it while others say it's fine. There needs to be a set of ground rules and every manager needs to follow them. Also, when associates are doing a good job it should be made clearer and managers need to stop taking their anger out on associates. Also, training of new employees is not sufficient.
Pros
Flexible schedule and associate discount.
Cons
Crazy and unpredictable hours, demanding work for not much pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember your sales associates are the foundation.
Pros
Though benefits can be expensive if you include your spouse, their benefits package is fairly generous for full-time employees --especially dental benefits.
Cons
A lot of doing the minimum by many employees and not a lot of support for decorators. Gossip, as well, was tolerated and even encouraged. Also, some managers and some of the trainers were a nightmare -- all ego and not as helpful as they puffed themselves up to be.
Pros
lots of hours, always busy
Cons
the people are very about themselves. Its hard to feel like a team. the hours are very long and the pay isnt good. the benefits are very expensive but is offered to part time. it seems like there are too many employees to stand out and get noticed and get promoted.
Advice to Senior Management
show some recognition. your people work really hard and its discouraging wen it seems for nothing
Pros
THe Hours and Flexibility were nice.
Cons
The pay was low but it was part time entry level.
Pros
Flexible hours
Store discounts in salon and in the rest of the store
Good location
Decent educations updates for ne products
Cons
Too much back stabbing among employees
Unrealistic retail goals in a cash strapped economy
Unfair booking policies, and giving recepionists walk in retail even when they do not even
move their bodies from around front desk!
Advice to Senior Management
The salon manager needs to stop being a unprofessional gossip, and talk the talk and walk the walk.
I understand that they need to be in touch with staff, but limit the closed door meetings with the same gossips and troublemakers.
Pros
Great work-life balance. Good amount of paid time off. Gay friendly. Good leadership development provided to management positions. Tight knit within stores.
Cons
Recent restructuring resulting in elimination of numerous management positions. Pay on lower end of "competitive". New CEO so there is a lot of unknown currently (Nov. 2011) about how the company will progress and be organized under his leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't have any.
Pros
Best Employer I have ever HAD!!!!
Cons
Benefits don't start after your first year.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work!
