    Pros

JCP was an amazing place to work at. I loved all my co workers and even all the managers except one,(there's always that one manager), and they all loved me. JCP was my first job and I was one of the pretty young ones there. I was placed in the Home Department, and I quickly learned the basics of Home. I gained many great customer relationships, and never got a bad review from a customer, and I was always loved by my peers around me. Soon enough, I got to know everybody and treated everyone with respect. I will always love JCP for reaching out and giving me my first chance. I highly recommend this place to be a first for young teens.

    Cons

Though there are plenty of pros, the cons just made me a bit unsatisfied. During times of heavy traffic throughout the store and after the store closed and there was a big mess, we were always short staffed for the job. Sometimes we'd have to stay back an hour or two just to fix the store, and it was ridiculous. But the most stressing part was the heavy criticism over credit apps. I can not stress enough how terribly mad it made me that they stressed credit apps to an associate who basically closed a dead JCP and had very little customers if any. Though it was a bluff because I had amazing reviews and I was praised by the customers for being quick, friendly, and getting them "in and out". Although I left, I will always LOVE JCP.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so hard on the closing part time associates who work in dead areas, such as home! Can't get credit apps when there aren't any customers. Other than that, nothing. Everyone else is great and you guys always made me feel like I was a part of the family.

    Pros

    Benefits, associate discount, great people

    Cons

With In Home Custom Decorating, there's not much teamwork involved. There's so many samples they suggest you take home because it's not worth going to the store to get your samples between appointments. The samples may as well be gym weights.

    Advice to Management

Not be so carefree with your employees. And manage who goes in and out of the employee offices.

    Pros

flex scheduling. friendly setting. quality clothing

    Cons

THE PAY- alot of people are overpaid and underpaid. older people( wiho have a working spouse) make more than a younger person (who works for everything they have) and do less work.

    Advice to Management

pay should be delegated on how adaptable/versitie a person is inside the store

    Pros

At first you will get many hours if your store is not packed with associates and you decent freedom to do your job.

    Cons

Managers suck. They are not quality leaders, too much customer catering for example when a customer steals and you know they steal and they come a manager might say take care of the customer. There is no movement upwards.

    Advice to Management

Understand your employees. allow for upward mobility.

    I worked at J. C. Penney full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Commission departments (if they even still have any, I believe they did away with most of them). It was an easy job for a young 20 something.

    Cons

No opportunity to advance. Restructuring of the store management team a few years back eliminated tenured employees with no real rhyme or reason.

    Pros

Good career, no complaints. Definitely enjoyed my time and the opportunity with the company. Would return if opportunity was right.

    Cons

A lot of inexperience running things at the moment, hopefully will get better over time. Long tern employees have a tendency to be over looked or taken for granted.

    Pros

Very friendly supervisors, we are all treated equally and like family. Credit is pushed but you aren't reprimanded for not getting any. They make getting credit fun by having contests and prizes.

    Cons

Manager (who is rarely in the store) can be a little degrading sometimes. Most of the time he is pretty nice though.

    Advice to Management

Keep treating the employees with respect, giving rewards and recognizing hard work really makes a difference. In order to get respect you have to give it.
